  7. being distributed as "shareware" for EVALUATION PURPOSES ONLY.

  11. -Pacific Edge- magazine is published by Pacific Edge Publishing, and is
  12. protected by United States copyright laws and international treaty
  13. provisions. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or
  14. create derivative works based on the software for any purpose other than
  15. creating an adaptation to the software as an essential step in its
  16. utilization for your own use. This software embodies valuable trade
  17. secrets proprietary to Pacific Edge Publishing and Azarona Software; you
  18. may not disclose any information regarding the internal operations of
  19. this software to others.

  21. Usage Restrictions

  23. Pacific Edge Publishing grants a limited license to individuals to use
  24. this software for a 30-day evaluation period on a private,
  25. non-commercial basis, for the express purpose of determining whether
  26. -Pacific Edge- is suitable for their needs. At the end of this 30-day
  27. evaluation period, the individual must either purchase a subscription
  28. from Pacific Edge Publishing for continued use of the program, or
  29. discontinue using the magazine.

  31. What does this mean? If you read this magazine on a continuing basis,
  32. you must purchase a subscription for its use.  -Pacific Edge- is NOT
  33. free, and we are not giving away free copies. We are giving you the
  34. opportunity to try it before paying for a subscription for continuing
  35. use. It is that simple. Try it. Then either pay for it, or quit reading
  36. it.

  38. Paying for a subscription to continue using the magazine is not only
  39. required, but also allows Pacific Edge Publishing to pay writers for
  40. their articles as well as defray expenses and thus stay in business.

  42. Purchasing a subscription for -Pacific Edge- entitles you to use the
  43. program on any and all computers available to you, provided you do not
  44. operate -Pacific Edge- on more than one computer or terminal at a time
  45. and you do not operate -Pacific Edge- on a network or a multi-user
  46. system. If you would like a network or multiple-use (site) license,
  47. please contact Pacific Edge Publishing for details.

  49. Distribution, Copying Restrictions

  51. Individuals are granted a limited license to copy -Pacific Edge-
  52. magazine only for the trial use of other individuals and subject to the
  53. above limitations. This license DOES NOT include distributing or copying
  54. this software package:

  56.    1.  In connection with any other product or service;
  57.  
  58.    2.  For general use within a company, institution, or agency;
  59.  
  60.    3.  For any consideration or 'disk fee'; or
  61.  
  62.    4.  In modified form (i.e., any distribution that does not include
  63.        ALL FILES supplied by Pacific Edge Publishing with the magazine
  64.        -Pacific Edge-, WITHOUT ALTERATION.  This includes renaming the
  65.        .ZIP file used by Pacific Edge Publishing to distribute the
  66.        magazine {which follows the formula, EDGEyymm.ZIP, where yy=year
  67.        and mm=month, except for CompuServe, where the formula is
  68.        EDGymm.ZIP})

  70. Operators of electronic bulletin board systems (Sysops) are permitted
  71. and encouraged to post -Pacific Edge- for downloading by their users, as
  72. long as the above conditions are met.

  74. Though a fee may be charged for BBS access, NO FEE may be charged to
  75. specifically access or download the -Pacific Edge- magazine files.

  77. Non-profit computer-related User Groups may distribute -Pacific Edge-
  78. magazine provided the above conditions are met. However, such User
  79. Groups MAY charge a NOMINAL fee to cover the cost of diskettes and
  80. copying of the software.  Any sales taxes that may accrue to such fees
  81. are the sole responsibility of the User Group.

  83. Disk vendors MUST obtain written permission from Pacific Edge Publishing
  84. before distributing the magazine.  Certain restrictions apply.  (Again,
  85. this is mostly related to sales taxes.)
