  8.                   BRAVO 4/33 LC AND IRWIN TAPE BACKUP UNIT
  9.

  11. PROBLEM:       Bravo 4/33 LC fails to recognize an Irwin A250EP Parallel Port
  12.                Tape Backup Unit.  The EZ-Tape software that is provided with
  13.                the unit is unable to detect the tape drive connected to the
  14.                parallel port.  This generates the error message "No tape
  15.                drive found."

  17. CAUSE:         The EZ-Tape software has several delay loops that are executed
  18.                too quickly on the Bravo 4/33 LC.
  19.  
  20. AFFECTED
  21. SYSTEMS:       All Bravo 4/33 LC systems.
  22.  
  23. SOLUTION:      By patching the software and increasing the delay loops, the
  24.                EZ-Tape software can run properly on the Bravo 4/33 systems.
  25.                These delays can be added by manipulating an environment
  26.                string as follows:

  28.                            SET PPCFDC=O:12,I:18
  29.  
  30.                This string represents the environment for the Parallel Port
  31.                Controller Floppy Disk Controller (PPCFDC) to have an Output
  32.                delay factor of 12 (O:12) and an Input delay factor of 18
  33.                (I:18).  These values were found to provide the best results
  34.                for the software to function properly.  This environment
  35.                string can be typed at a DOS prompt before executing the EZ-
  36.                Tape software or by adding this line to the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

  38.                This string will not decrease the functionality of the
  39.                software or system.  The delay factors are only providing the
  40.                normal delay that would be done on systems that the software
  41.                was originally designed for.
