Math Practice - Copyright (c) 1993 John D. Reading
Welcome to Math Practice. This is a fairly simple program that I
wrote to help my third grader who needs a little help with her
multiplication. It seems to be helping her, so I decided to share it.
One twist that I put in the program is that it keeps a log of who played,
what score they got, and how long they took. This log is found in
mult.scr in the directory in which the program is run. I added this
because I want to be able to track how well my daughter is doing as
she plays it over time.
The program also repeats problems that the student has missed before.
This capability is implemented in a fairly simple way, so when a problem
is missed it may show up the very next time, and the program forgets all
about it once the student has gotten it right (or more correctly, once
right for each time it was missed).
There are a couple of places (the welcoming screen, and when a problem has
been missed) that the program puases for a "long" time (6 to 10 seconds).
Hitting a key will break out of these pauses.
Math Practice requires an EGA or better (only uses EGA resolution) to run,
and a 286 or better. Memory requirements are minimal.
This is my first attempt at shareware. I am requesting only $1.00 for the
use of the program if you find it useful - no need even to write a check;
just take a picture of George out of your pocket and slip it in an
envelope :-). Even if you do not find it useful (or if you just don't want
to send the $1.00) please send me a note (or send me email at
readingj@cerf.net). I am curious to see how far this gets and who uses it.
And please, don't pass up sending the $1.00 just because you think it is too
little to make a difference - it will make a difference to me.
Thanks,
John Reading
