  8. While VISION 6.2 is totally compatible with DB done with previous releases,
  9. you can benefit of compression feature, converting all old .DB to new and
  10. compressed .DBC in the following way:
  11.  
  12. 1) Set COMPRESSION=ON in VISION.CFG file.
  13. 2) Execute VISION
  14. 3) Move the bar up to data base name to covert
  15. 4) Press Alt-U keys to generate original ASCII .UPD file, then confirm
  16. 5) Press Alt-B keys to recreate the data base, now in compressed format
  17. 6) Give its name without any extension (the same name of point 3)
  18. 7) Write new data base comment line (if you wish the same as before)
  19. 8) Now, after compression, you have to see a "c" on the right of the filesize
  20.    number which must be much less than before

  26. Each VISION Textual Data Base has now any text line length. Just only
  27. the Keyword Window has the 78 characters maximum per line limit.
  28.  
  29. Added TAB (to scroll text left), Shift-TAB (to scroll text right) and
  30. Shift-Home to reposition text at column 1.

  32. So that now you can translate any ASCII text into a VISION free format
  33. data base, without taking care of the 78 limit.

  35. *** ALL EXISTING VISION DATA BASES ARE FULLY COMPATIBLE WITH VISION 6.0 **

  37. It's not true the viceversa. If you build a new VISION v 6.0 Data Base,
  38. you aren't no more able to read it with previous VISION versions.

  40. To replace old VISION versions, simply copy into VISION directory
  41. all VISION61.ZIP files. (If you have changed VISION.CFG or VISION.MSG
  42. or VIS_OVL.MSG message files, make a back-up copy of them, then replace
  43. all VISION files, finally modify the new files with back-uped ones).

  46. If you find some problems in older VISION Data Bases, :

  48. - execute VISION
  49. - highlight the Data Base name you want to recompile
  50. - press Alt-U keys and confirm
  51. - then (once conversion finishs) press Alt-B keys and give its name

  54. In this way you can get a new compiled version of an old Data Base
