Gloucester, Ma
INTRODUCTION: --------------------------------------------
You are about to embark on a process that will revolutionize the way you
do business. Skillbase(c) will improve your "strike" ratio of
requirements to placements and streamline your office administration
at the same time.
Just start using the program. 500 sample people, each with 45 different
computer skills, and over 1500 sample skills are already entered so you can
see immediately the results you will obtain when you enter your own data.
Skillbase(c) will also train your sales staff since the skill dictionary
contains descriptions and definitions; all at the fingertips of your
recruiters and sales people. As you build your own dictionary,
particular to your clients' industries, you will have a complete
glossary of skills tailor-made to your own business.
Data entry is a breeze, since once you enter a skill, it cannot be
misspelled later on by someone else.
You can enter an unlimited number of people and skills, without
diluting the speed of Skillbase. In fact, due to the sophistication
of the program, the more skills you incorporate in a search, the faster
the search will be.
Simply hit F1 from anywhere in the program and you will have complete
instructions to maximize the benefits of Skillbase(c).
FEATURES: --------------------------------------------
Skillbase(c) will improve your business as it has for many other satisfied
users because:
Skillbase(c) provides unbeatable speed in making matches of skills with
individuals - less than 5 seconds for complex skill match searches.
Looking up phone numbers will be a snap. Find people by city, zip, phone
exchange, state or any other way you want, in addition to skills.
Skillbase(c) comes installed with a dictionary of THOUSANDS of computer
skills, including definitions and descriptions. Your sales and recruiting
staff will have instantaneous access to this dictionary while on the phone
with consultants or clients. No more fumbling for notes or reference books
to look up definitions or descriptions of obscure computer lingo. And you
can add skills and definitions while on line, on the phone.
Minimal data entry is required since pop up dialogue boxes anticipate the
data you will enter. Maximal reporting using an entire suite of printers will
provide you with quality printed output.
Unsure to make the switch? We will provide you with a filter to import your

GETTING STARTED: --------------------------------------------
First make sure that you have a minimum of 50 files in your config.sys file!
From this directory type sb and hit return.
This is the main menu. At any time you can hit the F1 key for help. Perhaps
the most effective way to learn the program is by using this online help
system. For now let`s travel through the program!
From the main menu you can use the up/down arrow keys to move through the
different selections. When the highlighted bar is positioned over a menu
choice, hitting return will enter that area of the product. You can also
type the first letter preceding each menu choice and achieve the same result.
QUICK TUTORIAL: --------------------------------------------
From the main menu, type "A". You will be shown a listing of 500 fictitious
people. Each of these individuals has 45 skills. There is no limit to the
number of individuals, nor the skills per individual. At the top of the list
you will see the names of the fields being viewed. You can use the F7-F10
keys to redefine these scrolling fields. Hit the F10 key now. Select City
using the arrow keys, then hit return. You have just resorted the table by
the city field. Hit the F1 key at this time to learn more about the power
of redefined scrolling fields. When you are finished reading the help screen,
hit the ESC key one time to return to the table view.
Now type the letter "r". Notice that the table has moved, and you are now
viewing people in the database with the city starting with Randolph. This
"quick find" feature appears in all the lists throughout the program. Hit
return now. You are currently in a data entry screen. Hitting return advances
you through the fields. Now hit the F2 key. This is a printer status box.
When you see this, it indicates that you are about to print exactly what
you see on the screen. Hit ESC to abort the print job now.
To see what skills this individual has, hit the F4 key. You will immediately
see a scrolling list of skills. Use the up/down arrow keys to scroll through
this list. To enter a new skill for this individual, hit the INS key. Now a
new scrolling list will appear. This list contains 1562 possible skills to
choose from that are always available to you in the program. Type the letter
"g". All the skills that begin with the letter g will appear. Hit return to
select a skill. The skill that you hit return on has been assigned to the
individual's record. At any time that you enter this record again, the skill
that you just assigned will be associated with this record.
Now we will conduct a search. Hit the ESC key several times until the main
menu appears. Type the letter "D". You are now in the main search screen.
First a simple search. Type the letter "c" then hit return. Notice that the
column on the left now contains the computer language C. This is your first
criteria. Hit the F6 key. By the time you have read this, Skillbase(c) will
probably have completed searching through all 500 people and will have found
all the people who know C. When the search is complete you will be notified
with an audible beep.
Hit the ESC key several times to return to the main menu. Again type the
letter "d" to enter the search screen. Type in the following skills hitting
return after each skill: COBOL, MFS, NOMAD, RSX, SUN, and TECO. Type CTRL-E
to force an exact match, then hit F6 to start the search. Skillbase(c) will
examine 500 people, each with 45 skills, in a matter of seconds! Compare
this speed to other programs!
What if a skill you require is not available? No problem! You can enter
skills while you are creating a record, or while you are in the skill
dictionary. Hit ESC several times until the main menu appears. Type the
letter "b". This screen contains 1562 skills with genres and definitions!
Add any skills you wish. You will not be allowed to enter duplicate skills.
(This will save you lots of time and will guarantee you find all the people
with the skills you want).
Skillbase(c) offers breathtaking innovation that sets it apart from other
DBMS products today. We hope that you will examine the product carefully,
paying close attention to the quality, the features, and the speed. The
online help system should answer all of the questions that you have. If not,

work identically in the commercial version, so feel free to experiment with
your own data!. To leave Skillbase(c), type "x" from the main menu. To run
Skillbase(c) again, type go from your C: drive, or type sb while you are in
the \SB directory.
