  2.  Insight Installation Utility 
  3. Welcome to The Insight Installation Utility 
  4. This program allows you to install Insight onto your PC. During first time installations the PBX must be connected to a serial port of the PC. 5
  5.  Installation Procedure :

  7. 1) Fully program basic PBX data in the ASYD command (refer to your PBX manuals for assistance). C
  8. 2) Connect the PBX to the PC on which you are installing INSIGHT. 
  9. 3) Press ALT-S to choose the PBX
  10. Port, PBX
  11. Rate, Program
  12. Path, Database
  13. Path, and whether you want the INSTALL to check your AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files. 3
  14. 4) Press ALT-I to begin the installation process. 
  15. Note : If INSTALL modifies your AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS files you will be prompted for whether you want INSTALL to reboot your PC automatically.  The reason is because changes in the CONFIG.SYS file only take effect after a system reboot.  If INSTALL changes only the AUTOEXEC.BAT file it is not necessary to reboot the PC although you will be prompted to (you need only type C:\AUTOEXEC for these changes to take affect in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file). 
  16.  menu is accessed by pressing Alt-Space.  All of the other menus are accessed by pressing Alt-Z, where Z is the first letter of the menu.  For example, the "Setup" menu is pulled down by Alt-S. 3

  37. Coose this option to configure the installation process.  Such items as then PBX

  42. This is the serial port of the PC that the PBX is connected to. First time installations must have the PBX connected to the PC. 
  43. This is the baud rate of the serial port that the PBX is connected to. First time installations must have the PBX connected to the PC. 
  44. This is the directory name to store all INSIGHT program files.  This directory will automatically be created if one does not exist already. The path should include a valid hard disk drive letter (for example C:\INSIGHT). 
  45. This is the directory name to store all database files.  This directory will automatically be created if one does not exist already.  The path should include a valid hard disk drive letter (for example C:\INSIGHT\DATABASE).

INSIGHT has full MS-DOS path support built in.   This means that INSIGHT can be run from any directory of your PC if the directory that INSIGHT is in is contained in the MS-DOS path (see your MS-DOS user's guide for details about paths).  The MS-DOS path is usually configured in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.  The path is set up as in the following example:

  48. INSTALL will automatically modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT file (if you toggle this option in the Setup menu) to put the path where INSIGHT is installed into the file (if AUTOEXEC.BAT doesn't exist one will be created).  The original AUTOEXEC.BAT file will be saved as AUTOEXEC.ORG. 
  49. INSIGHT requires the MS-DOS be configured to provide at least 60 files. The number of files that MS-DOS provides is configured in your CONFIG.SYS file. (see your MS-DOS user's guide for details about CONFIG.SYS).  The number of files is set up as in the following example:

INSTALL will automatically modify your CONFIG.SYS file (if you toggle this option in the Setup menu) to make sure that at least 60 files are provided. (if CONFIG.SYS doesn't exist one will be created).  The original CONFIG.SYS file will be saved as CONFIG.ORG.  The CONFIG.SYS file will remain unchanged if the number of files provided is at least 60.

  53. This choice begins the installation process.  Make sure that you have set up the installation parameters before choosing this option.
