NOTE #1 - Although this is a release version of Booby Trap it is
not the final version (if there ever is such a thing). Booby Trap
is still being worked on to improve it's appearance and play. So,
if you find a problem when you play or if you see something that
you think would improve the game, leave a note with the Sysop of
the board where you are playing or leave a message to me on my
board, Com-Dat BBS at the number below.
NOTE #2 - Booby Trap has automatic Hot Keys. You do not
need to press the RETURN (ENTER) key unless prompted to do so.

The object of Booby Trap is to clear or mark the 152 squares without
tripping one of the 25 booby traps. You use the keys on the key pad
to move the cursor. Your NUM LOCK key should be enabled to
activate your key pad. The main screen shows which keys to use.
When the game first starts you have to pick a square that you think
is safe to clear. If the Sysop has the "Safe" square feature activated
then the cusor will be on a square that does not have a booby trap.
To clear a square you can use either the space bar, 0 key on the key
pad or the C key. The [T] key toggles the 3 colors available for the
squares. The [N] key toggles the 4 colors available for the numbers.
If there is a booby trap in the square you will see a BT and the
game will end. If there is one or more booby traps in any of the
squares touching you will see a number from 1 to 8, indicating how
many booby traps there are around you. If there is no number then
there is no booby trap in any of the touching squares (hint hint...
this means they are safe). If you think a square is booby trapped you
can mark that square with the 5 or M key and a red flag will appear.
You can hit the 5 or M key again to unflag the square.
If you trip a booby trap then that game will end and you will either be
given another chance to play or if you have played all your games for
the day then the game will end. If the Make Up feature is active and you
have missed any games from previous days you will be given the chance
to make them up. When you trip a booby trap all the squares will clear
showing the placement of the other booby traps and also which ones you
had right or wrong. A BT is a hidden booby trap, FBT is a flagged booby
trap and NBT is a square flagged but has no booby trap. If you can not
play all your allocated games, you can come back to finish them. This
is only good for the same 24 hour period and only for games you have
not started and quit out of.

You score 100 points for each booby trap found on the board and
if you find all 25 booby traps without tripping one you will get a
bonus of 500 points.

The Sysop has the following options: Allow 1 to 99 games per day,
turn on the "Safe" Square and allow Make Up Games. He can also
display a Dedication or Nag line on the opening screen.

I hope you like the game and any enhancement you can suggest may
be added in a later version. I can be reached through FIDO 105/314,
105/317 or 105/330, or by calling my board at the numbers below.
In addition, I read the DOORWARE and WILDCAT Echos and participate in
the DoorNet Network. I will respond to any messages addressed to me.
