-=ANSi Art Gallery Setup Documentation=-
Converting files:
At present, there are three prior versions that can be converted to the
new v3.30 format: versions 3.10, 3.1b, and 3.20. AAGSETUP will automatically
read ANSI.DAT and detect which version to update from. Select "Begin
Conversion Process" to begin converting.
Make sure you have specified a valid art directory because files will be
copied into there.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Multi-node BBS(future use):
ANSi Art Gallery does not support multi-lines yet. Future updates will
probably contain this. This option should be selected to Yes for SysOps with
more than 1 lines for future reference.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DSZ Path:
ANSi Art Gallery requires the path to where DSZ.COM or DSZ.EXE is located
in order for the uploading/downloading of ANSI files to operate correctly.
Remember: Include the path and executable with this command line. It is
important that you follow this guideline or unpredictable results may follow.
Examples:
C:\COMM\DSZ.COM <- CORRECT
C:\COMM\GSZ <- CORRECT
C:\COMM\ <- WRONG
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PKZIP Path:
In order for ANSi Art Gallery to package ANSi files, a compression program is
required. The most common program is PKZIP. Please enter the directory where
PKZIP.EXE can be found. Files will be packaged with ANSIART.AD, which you
may edit. include PKZIP.EXE in your path statement.
Remember: Include the path and executable with this command line. It is
important that you follow this guideline or unpredictable results may follow.
Examples:
C:\COMPRESS\PKZIP.EXE <- RIGHT
C:\COMPRESS\PKZIP <- RIGHT
C:\COMPRESS <- WRONG
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Swap directory
ANSi Art Gallery may require swapping to DOS to run certain programs. If
you select to swap to disk, a swap file will be created temporarily. Specify
where this swap file should be stored. Remember that disk space is required
to store this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Art directory
As of v3.30, ANSi Art Gallery stores ANSI pictures in a separate directory and
does not store pictures as ANSI numbers as it once did. Please specify a
directory in which uploads will be kept in. This directory will also need
to be accessed for viewing files as well as downloading them. It is important
that this directory contain adequate space to store files.
Make sure the directory specified is NOT the root directory of AAG. Do not
specify it in the same location as where ANSIART.EXE exists.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Temp directory
ANSi Art Gallery requires a temporary directory where ANSi files will be
received into for processing, and for preparing batch transfers.
This directory MUST be empty.
Please note that anything in this directory will be killed when executing AAG.
It is important that you do not store permanent or valuable files in this
directory.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Swap to XMS/EMS/Disk
If AAG is unable to shell to DOS due to lack of memory, it may need to swap
to allocate more memory. If you have extra XMS/EMS memory available, toggle
these options on.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Auto-validate ANSI uploads
ANSi Art Gallery has an option of whether or not to validate ANSi's
automatically. If you want files unvalidated, files will be received as *.NEW.
If you want files validated, uploaded files by users can be instantly viewed
w/o sysop approval. (Read ANSIART.DOC for information)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Default baud rate to view
Particular ANSI pictures may require a minimum baud rate to view at. Use this
option to leave a default baud rate to view at for all uploads. Setting 0
will be interpreted as no default.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Create a transfer log
After each upload and download, files transferred will be recorded in
TRANSFER.LOG. Be aware that this file will never be killed by AAG, so it is
up to you to do it. This file will allow programmers to update
uploads/downloads statistics on the BBS system.
The format is demonstrated as follows:
AAG.DOC: Downloaded by Roger Hu at 9600 baud on 01-01-93 5:36
ARTINST.DOC: Uploaded by Roger Hu at 2400 baud on 01-01-93 20:36
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Begin conversion process
Use this to convert from prior versions of AAG v3.10, v3.1b, or v3.20.
