Version 4.01G01
(c) copyright 1988-1993 by Santronics Software
This is a maintenance update to the Silver Xpress Version 4.00 Mail door.
This maintenance update is called Version 4.01G01. All references, comments
and bug reports should be made using this version number.
This package only contains the following files:
README.401 - This File
HISTORY.401 - History file summarizing changes in 4.01G01
ORDER.DOC - Order File
XPADM.EXE - EXE update to the XPADM administration program
XPADM.OVR - OVERLAY update to the XPADM administration program
XPADM.HLP - New Help file for XPADM
XPMAIL.EXE - EXE update to the XPMAIL mail door
XPMAIL.OVR - OVERLAY update to the XPMAIL mail door
This is not the complete Silver Xpress Package. If you are new to Silver
Xpress, you will need to download the complete package, install Xpress
using the install program in the complete package and then overwrite the
exe and hlp files with the ones provided in this maintenance update. See
below for more information about Silver Xpress complete packages.
Installing the maintenance release:
1) The EXE, OVR and HLP files are plug and play files. Overwrite the
old exe, ovr and hlp file with the new exe, ovr and hlp files.
2) A new field was added to the communication options, HANGUP DELAY
TIME. It should default to 500. This is a good value and there
should be no need to change it. However, run XPADM and check to see
XPADM has it set to 500. If not, set it to 500, save and recompile.
If you experience problems where the door will not HANGUP the modem
when the Xpress user selects the GOODBYE option off the main Xpress
menu, then try raising the hangup delay time. I have seen systems
where 1 second (1000 milliseconds) was required.
3) Thats it!
NOTES:
1) OPUS 1.73 Sysops can now begin once again to use the original
Xpress/OPUS menu control file provided in the full complete package.
The original Xpress/OPUS menu control file had switches passing
ports and baudrates to the Xpress Batch file. However a bug in the
4.00 release prevented usage of the port switches. This maintenance
release fixes this problem.
2) RA Sysops who were having SYSOP mail security problems with Xpress
can now be 100% confident with this maintenance release.
3) PCBOARD sysops who were having problems creating QWK packets with
Xpress can now be 100% confident the problem has been resolved in
this maintenance release.
