TnT SysOp Statistics (v1.0)
by
TnT Software
06/07/93
INTRODUCTION
TnT Sysop Stats is finally here! YAY! This is a little program that
Alan and I started writing a year ago. Another person wrote one similar to
ours so we decided to use it. After a few months we noticed that some of the
stats were not right. So with the help of newcomer Bill Townsend, we pulled
this outta the archives and finished it up.
SETTING IT UP
For those of you who use our software now, this program is no
different in setting it up. Simply copy the files in the archive onto your
hard drive. The files included are:
TNTSTATS.EXE <-- The executable program
TNTSTATS.DOC <-- The file you are reading now =)
If you are installing for the first time type the following at the
prompt:
TNTSTATS C
This will allow you to configure the program. You will be asked the
following questions:
Please enter the location of your BBS program files (ie C:\TRIBBS)
--> c:\tribbs
Please enter the SysOp's name.
--> James Troyan & Bill Townsend
Please enter the BBS's name.
--> The Screamin' Eagle
Please enter the bulletin name. (ie BULLET8)
--> bullet9 (Note : DO NOT include an extension.)
Do you wish to create both ANSI and ASCII files?
--> y or n (Note : Answering 'n' will cause the program to create ASCII only)
After this, the program will create a file called TNTSTATS.CFG. If
you ever need to change it, you can do so by using a simple text editor, or
re-running TNTSTATS C. Now, you are all set up! =)
RUNNING IT
You can use TnT SysOp Stats as an event or a stand alone program.
Simply type:
TNTSTATS R
This will run TnT SysOp Stats from the command line. If you want to
run it as an event, you do it exactly the same way, but put the command
TNTSTATS R in a batch file. Easy as falling off a log. Heck, even Joe Klemmer
can do this. Just kidding Joe! ;)
RUN TIME & PROBLEMS
TnT SysOp Stats has been tested on different sizes of CALLERS.LOG
files. The biggest so far was 126,740K. This was for about 1 month of
activity on The Screamin' Eagle (Big SHAMELESS plug). I timed it at about
2 seconds on a 386. No real problems have been noted. If you happen to note
one (or two, or three...), please send E-mail to James Troyan or
Bill Townsend. If you want to get questions answered more quickly send E-mail
to:
troyanj@lurch.winthrop.edu or
townsenb@lurch.winthrop.edu
This, of course, is via INTERNET.
LICENSE AND COST
Well, this is just like all other TnT stuff. Yep, it's free to the
registered SysOp's of TriBBS. Just our way of saying thanks. You using our
stuff is all the thanks we need.
THANKS
I would like to thank some people. aLAN Taylor, who helped me start
TnT Software. Bill Townsend for helping me finish this nutty program. Mark
Goodwin for TRIBBS and all his time and effort in it. Dr. Bill Moressi (My
Boss) for correcting my errors in this documentation. Last but not least,
Randy Hunt, for helping me stick with writing programs for TriBBS.
