-----------------
SecureDOS 1.0 is a utility designed to allow your co-sysops safe entry to
DOS. SecureDOS, unlike Doorway, doesn't actually drop the user to DOS and
just echo what's going on to both the screen and the COM port. SecureDOS
actually emulates DOS, allowing for a much greater protection for your
highly valued files. SecureDOS allows for an Entry password, if so desired,
to even enter the door. Once inside SecureDOS, the user can move freely
around the drive and do most of the basic commands to manipulate files on
the system. However, SecureDOS does have protection built in, to keep
users from damaging valuable files. One sysop definable text file can
be edited and added to, which contains a list of individual files that,
you, the sysop do not want copied, renamed, deleted or otherwise messed
with. Another text file contains a list of directories that the sysop does
not want users to be able to enter, or to even access ANY of the files
in (as described above - no deletion, etc.). This is a quick way of keeping
a large section of your BBS safe from the outside world while still allowing
for your co-sysops to access certain areas. A Co-sysop could, perhaps,
install a door, all while on-line. Some BBSes allow editing of door files
from remote. The cosysop could call up, upload the door, go into SecureDOS,
unzip it into it's own directory, read the doc files, create the batch file
and BOOM! A new door is on-line. (If he is good enough to get it right the
first time!)
READ THE SYSOP.DOC FILE AND EDIT THE SECDOS.CFG FILE BEFORE RUNNING SECDOS!
