Upgrading / Installation Documentation for GOSCAN v2.x:
Installation For First Time:
────────────────────────────
When you install for the first time, you need to create a directory called
GOSCAN or what-have-you and unarchive the files into that directory. Then
you need to run GSCONFIG.EXE and Configure GOSCAN to the correct settings
required for the program. Extended help on GSCONFIG found at the end of
this file. After running GSCONFIG.EXE and Configuring GOSCAN you'll then
need to run GSEDIT.EXE. Go down to the Edit Node Data and add your up/down
links if you wish to create information for them. Afterwards, you need to
obtain a DEMO key from the support board.
To obtain a DEMO key, call (704)982-9223 and load [K]eyDoor from the Main
Menu. This will allow you to download GOSCAN.KEY created specifically for
your system ONLY! Download protocols currently available are Ymodem, Zmodem,
and Xmodem.
Afterwards, place the DEMO Key in the directory with the EXEs and set the
environmental variable WCHOME=C:\WC30 or whatever your WILDCAT! home direct-
ory current is.
<For GSCONFIG.EXE Help, refer to End Of File>
Upgrading from Version 2.00 to v2.01 or v2.02:
─────────────────────────────────────
Installation is easy for this upgrade. Simply copy ALL .EXE files over the
current ones you have already. Then you are ready to go! There was no
changes as far as the databases we concerned in these releases.
Upgrading from Version 1.20 to v2.xx:
─────────────────────────────────────
To upgrade to v2.xx, you MUST currently be running v1.20. If you aren't
running v1.20, then please delete GOSCAN and start by using the instructions
above for first time installation.
Ok, now that we've declared running version 1.20, you just need to type at
a DOS prompt UPGOSCAN.EXE. It will load and ask if you wish to upgrade
GOSCAN?. If you type Y, it will take the current database information and
convert it to Binary formated databases.
After conversion, you need to delete a file called GSCNCNFG.EXE which is NO
longer supported by GOSCAN v2.0.
Now, you might pay to run GSCONFIG.EXE to check the new configurable options
to see if you wish to activate any of them! Refer to the End of File for
more information on GSCONFIG.EXE. If you wish to set any up/down-links for
mail charges, you too must run GSEDIT.EXE and go to the Edit Node Info.
