  15. This READ.ME file provides brief information on how to install the SPfocus
  16. display list driver for SPIRIT 4.5, how to configure SPIRIT for use with 
  17. SPEA graphics boards, and how to load the resident driver and remove it 
  18. from memory.

  20. More detailed information may be found in the user's manuals provided with
  21. the SPEA graphics boards, and in the SPfocus User's Manual.

  23. SPfocus drivers  - are available for all SPEA Graphiti graphics boards
  24.                  - support SPIRIT Version 4.5
  25.                  - and are exclusively distributed by Soft-Tech.

  32. The SPEA graphics board, hardware and GDC basic software as well as SPIRIT 
  33. must have been installed before the SPfocus driver can be installed. The en-
  34. vironment variable GDC (see also SPEA Software Manual) must be set.

  37. Proceed as follows to install the SPfocus driver software :
  38.  
  39.   Insert the SPfocus driver disk into the disk drive 
  40.  
  41.   Change to the disk drive and enter
  42.  
  43.          INSTALL
  44.  
  45.   You will be asked to specify the directory the SPfocus driver shall be
  46.   copied to (default is C:\SPEA\GDC) and the SPIRIT logon directory (usually
  47.   C:\LOGON).

  49.   Then select the SPEA board for which the SPfocus driver software shall 
  50.   be installed.
  51.  
  52.   The driver software will now be copied to the specified directories.

  57.      The INSTALL program will automatically check the firmware revision 
  58.      installed on these boards and copy the most current firmware versions 
  59.      to the \SPEA\GDC directory, if necessary.

  61.      The onboard firmware may then be updated using the commands
  62.             FGAPROM BOOT    respectively   FGAPROM BOOT2 or
  63.             HIPROM HIBOOT   respectively   HIPROM HI1024

  73. To configure SPIRIT for the SPEA driver, change to the directory C:\MTEC
  74. and run the SPIRIT configuration program CONFIG. Select the SPEA driver.

  76. Then change to the directory the SPfocus driver has been copied to and run
  77. the SPfocus configuration utility SPCONF. Options in SPCONF may be selected
  78. using the mouse or cursor keys.

  80. The parameters "display list size and location", "interrupt number", "hot
  81. key" to call SPfocus functions when working in SPIRIT, and "Font Size"
  82. may be defined.

  87.    Please note : SPCONF always uses Video Mode 0 available for the selected
  88.    monitor ; it does not use the video mode selected with HIMODE / 860MODE.

  142.    The SPfocus drivers for the SPEA Graphiti HiLite and FIRE series support
  143.    various video modes. To select the desired mode,
  144.    - first remove the TSR driver from system memory
  145.    - use HIMODE or 860MODE to select the desired video mode
  146.    - then load the SPfocus driver again
