  87. V7-media fx configuration

  92. E1  The V7-media fx supports the following CD-ROM drives:
  93.     Panasonic/Matsushita CR-523 (single speed)
  94.         "          "     CR-563 (double speed)
  95.     Mitsumi CRMC, LU005S, FX-001D
  96.     Sony CDU 31a
  97.     Important:
  98.     The jumpersetting on the V7-media fx for the I/O-addresses must
  99.     be the same as the setting of the I/O-address for the CD-ROM-driver
  100.     in the CONFIG.SYS.
  101.  
  102. E2  The sounds on the V7-media fx are layed down in ROM. 
  103.     You can neither exchange nor modify them.
  104.  
  105. E3  The hardware doesn┤t allow that.
  106.  
  107. E4  Your V7-media fx comes from an ESCOM-shop! 
  108.     ESCOM sells the V7-media fx for a lower price, but with less 
  109.     software than normal.
  110.     ESCOM offers an additional package of software for the V7-media fx, 
  111.     which contains MediaBlitz, a Multimedia software and 
  112.     Super JAM Jr., a program to make music.
  113.  
  114. E5  With Recording Session you can only enter musical notes with the 
  115.     mouse, not with the PC-keyboard.
  116.  
  117. E6  Try to use the standard VGA-driver for Windows and see if the error 
  118.     persists.
  119.     If the distortions are gone, you probably have a conflict in the 
  120.     configuration of DMA-channels and -buffers that also affects the 
  121.     graphics card.
  122.     In that case find the lines amem=xx in the blocks [SNDSCAPE.DRV] and
  123.     [AAPIPKB2.DRV] in the SYSTEM.INI and increase the value of amem=xx
  124.     (DMA-buffersize in KB) in steps of 2KB (2, 4, 8, ..  16KB).
  125.     Find also the line DMAbuffersize=xx in the block [386Enh] and try 
  126.     with 16, 32, 64 (KB).
  127.     Remember: You must save SYSTEM.INI and restart Windows for your 
  128.     modifications to be effective.
  129.  
  130. E7  Open the Control Panel, select in the module Multimedia-Drivers the
  131.     item Setup and decrease the DMAbuffersize in the drivermodule
  132.     "SOUNDSCAPE DVB AD-1848 Wave, Aux".
  133.     Keep in mind the bad effects that a very small DMAbuffersize might 
  134.     have! (see E6)
  135.    
  136. E8  On some V7-media fx the socket for the audio-input from Mitsumi has 
  137.     been rotated 180 degrees.
  138.     Please send us a fax with your address, we will send you an adaptor!
  139.     But first please check:
  140.     The jumpersetting on the V7-media fx for the I/O-addresses must
  141.     be the same as the setting of the I/O-address for the CD-ROM-driver
  142.     in the CONFIG.SYS.

  151. E9  Acvtivate "MIDI Thru" in "Options" of Recording Session.
  152.  
  153. E10 Check the MIDI-cables with other MIDI-devices and/or try other cables.
  154.     Check also if the cables are plugged correctly - labeling of MIDI IN /
  155.     MIDI OUT is sometimes misleading. If you are not sure, just swap the 
  156.     IN and the OUT cable. You won┤t cause any damage.
  157.  
  158. E11 Set "USE MIDI-Mapper" to ON. You find this setting in the 
  159.     pulldown menu "Options" - "Global" in SuperJam jr. 
  160.  
  161. E12 These operating systems are not supported. 
  162.     Please wait until February for an OS/2 driver.
  163.  
  164. E13 Make sure the installation is correct; if the problem persists try 
  165.     another slot or another PC.
  166.     Check the connections of headsets, speakers, CD-ROM. Maybe there are 
  167.     corroded plugs/sockets/switches.
  168.     Make sure there are no conflicts in the PC regarding I/O adresses, 
  169.     DMA channels or IRQs. If there are conflicts, fix them.
  170.     PCI System Bios: Set option "CPU to PCI byte merge" or "CPU to PCI 
  171.     burst write" on "Disabled" ; switch off the hardware cache.
  172.  
  173. E14 Install the actual driver version Rel. >=0395 !
  174.     Make shure to use the certain release for your fx serial number!
  175.     Increase the DOS Environment (SHELL=.../E:1024) - see CONFIG.SYS. 
  176.     Note:
  177.     The V7-media fx is compatible to Soundblaster and FM by emulation.
  178.     The board contains no Soundblaster and no OPL Chip!
  179.     The sound-programming of some software (mostly games) needs the 
  180.     Soundblaster-hardware or references BIOS-functions of the Soundblaster.
  181.     If the emulations of Soundblaster or FM are not completely or not at 
  182.     all supported, problems will occur as a logical consequence.
  183.     A possible solution is to try Soundblaster Pro in the setup of the 
  184.     game.
  185.  
  186. E15 The manual of the V7-Media fx is available in German. The other 
  187.     programs that come with your V7-media fx are licenced original software
  188.     with manuals in English only. Updates of these programs to a full 
  189.     version can┤t be obtained from SPEA. We recommend the following 
  190.     companies to buy sound software and accessories from:

  194. E16 You can install the CD-ROM drive with the original drivers from Mitsumi
  195.     as follows:

  208. E17 If the humming only occurs with an external amplifier (hifi or active 
  209.     speakers) it is caused by a ground loop. Either connect your PC to a 
  210.     wall-socket that belongs to a circuit (-> different fuse) other than 
  211.     the circuit of the amplifier┤s wall-socket, or turn the plug of the 
  212.     amplifier┤s power-cord in the socket. 
  213.     Distortions of unidentifiable origins can be caused by an old-fashioned
  214.     electrical installation without separate PE.
  215.     Check also the power supply of the active speakers or the 
  216.     MIDI-keyboard.
  217.  
  218. E18 The delivered version of Recording Session is a demo-version. 
  219.     You can order a complete version called "Studio" (for approx. DM 250) 
  220.     from M3C in Berlin (Tel. 030-7856066). "Studio" allows to print notes.
  221.  
  222. E19 Some mainboards perform a byteswap in the 16bit part of the ISA-bus.
  223.     This can cause strong distortions in recording / replaying of waveforms
  224.     and sometimes even cause the program to stall.
  225.     Solution: Install the V7-media fx in an 8bit slot. If your mainboard 
  226.     has no 8bit-slot you can cover the 16bit part of the V7-media fx 
  227.     connector with Scotch-tape. the V7-media fx will react as if it were 
  228.     in an 8bit-slot. The performance will not be affected.
  229.  
  230. E20 Possibly a solution: Swap the IRQs.
  231.     E.g. swap base-IRQ 2 and Soundblaster-IRQ 7 to 
  232.               base-IRQ 7 and Soundblaster-IRQ2
  233.  
  234. E21 Deinstall the V7-media fx and redo the installation:
  235.     Delete the directory C:\MEDIAFX, the files MIDIMAP.CFG, AAPIPKB2.DRV 
  236.     and TAPIPKB2.DRV and all entries in the SYSTEM.INI that hint at 
  237.     SNDSCAPE, AAPIP and TAPIP as well as the blocks [SNDSCAPE.DRV] and 
  238.     [AAPIPKB2.DRV].
  239.     Then install the V7-media fx again.
  240.  
  241. E22 This error message indicates a conflict in the configuration of the 
  242.     V7-media fx. Make sure that the jumpersetting on the board corresponds 
  243.     with the addresses set in SSINIT. Correct discrepancies if necessary.
