  3. Welcome to the Usenet Source Code CDROM Volume 1.
  4.  
  5. This CDROM archives newsgroups on the Internet where programmers
  6. publish and release their program source codes.  These newsgroups
  7. include alt.sources, comp.sources.games, comp.sources.misc,
  8. comp.sources.sun, comp.sources.unix and comp.sources.x.  All of the
  9. source codes were posted as newsgroup articles and were dated from the
  10. year 1985 to 1990.
  11.  
  12. Each release of source code is indexed either by volume and issue numbers
  13. or by the date it was posted on the newsgroup.  The newsgroup article files
  14. are located in directories whose pathnames reflect this information.
  15. Most article files have their contents unsharred and extracted to
  16. their corresponding directories.  Please check the files "00_index.txt"
  17. under each directory for the articles' subject lines and the filename
  18. listing for that directory.

  39. Quick Start Instructions:
  40.  
  41.   MSDOS Quick Start:
  42.     Change to your CDROM drive and type "view".
  43.     Example:
  44.           C:\> D:
  45.           D:\> view
  46.  
  47.   Windows 3.1/NT/95:
  48.     Go to "File" menu under program manager and choose Run.  At the
  49.     Command Line box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.
  50.     This will install a group folder with icons for this cdrom.
  51.  
  52. Using the 00_INDEX.HTM:
  53.  
  54. We have included 00_index.htm files so the user may use a Web browser
  55. to view our disc.
  56.  
  57. In order to view this disc using these 00_index.htm files, point your
  58. Web browser to the root level 00_index.htm file.
  59.  
  60. For example, in Netscape/Mosaic:
  61.  
  62.         1) Choose File/Open File (or File/Open Local File with Mosaic)
  63.         2) Choose your CDROM Drive under "Drives"
  64.         3) Select the 00_index.htm file
  65.         4) Click on OK
  66.

  69. Word Lookup:
  70.  
  71. This CDROM also contains a full word index program in the /utils directory.
  72. Look in that directory for the binary for your system.  From the root
  73. directory of the CDROM, invoke the binary with the word you want to search
  74. for as an argument.  The source code for the lookup program is also available
  75. in /utils/lookup_src if you do not find a binary for your system.

  79. WinView and View
  80.  
  81. To make browsing the disc easier, we have included the program WinView
  82. for MicroSoft Windows, and the program VIEW for MSDOS on the CDROM.
  83. These programs allow you to page through index files, browse through
  84. directories on the CD, view documentations and uncompress/install the
  85. program(s) you want onto your hard disk.

  91. This disk contains many shareware programs and images. Shareware can
  92. be considered to be a sort of try before you buy system where you are
  93. expected to pay the program author a registration fee if you find the
