  20. This is my second release of "speedometer" 
  21. - This version also remembers your max speed and has a graphical
  22. representation of your current speed! Speedometer pos can also be toggled.
  23.  
  24. Speedometer is a small modification for quake, which will aid you in learning 
  25. wall-hugging, speed-jumping and bunny-jumping - that is utilizing a quake-bug 
  26. to attain speeds above 320. 
  27. PC quakers has had proxy which functions as a speedometer for a long time. 
  28. Now, with this little qc-patch, amiga quakers can have the same feature :)) 
  29.  
  30. Usage: 
  31. Place the "speedometer" dir in your quake directory. 
  32. start quake: quake -game speedometer 
  33.  
  34. Impulse 100 toggles the speedometer on/off 
  35. Impulse 101 toggles speedometer position - default is middle  
  36.  
  37. Current speed is printed centered or in lower left corner.
  38. Your highest attained speed is printed in top right corner,
  39. along with graphical representation of your current speed. 
  40.  
  41. I have included a map, "speedo", which I designed for setting speed records 
  42. A friend of mine has reached a speed of around 1800 on this map, performing 
  43. bunnyjumps. (more than 5 times the normal maxspeed!) 
  44.  
  45. Here's a few of my experiences with the speedometer patch: 
  46.  
  47. * wall-hugging gives a speed of max 435, compared to standard 320. 
  48.   (your angle with the wall is important for attaining maximal speed) 
  49.  
  50. * Turning, sliding and jumping all adds to speed. 
  51.  
  52. if you combine sliding, jumping and turning correct, you will be able to 
  53. perform, what's usually referred to as "bunny jumping". 
  54. The speedometer should be very usefull in learning this trick.

  57. All there's left to say is: enjoy! - and throw some insane speed demos up on 
  58. aminet in return, will you? 
  59.  
  60. (Oh, and Demolicious is useful for editing demos - that is cutting away the 
  61. parts where you are fooling around - it's on Aminet..)
