  24. Fuck me, these guys need an elementary course in English. I think a 7 year
  25. old can type better than this. Some of their sentences don't even make
  26. sense! Literally!

  30. THE PLOT
  31.  
  32. The witch doctor has sent Ruffian on a mission. He must search vast levels
  33. for pixies trapped in carnivourous plants. Then using only seeds collected
  34. from fruits along the way, spit the seeds at the trapped pixies to set them
  35. free, before they are digested. When all the pixies are saved, Ruffian must
  36. quickly find the secret exit by following a trail of helping hands left by
  37. the pixies.
  38. To help Ruffian on his journey, the witch doctor has left many spells and
  39. potions, some of which are essential for Ruffian to progress.

  43. LOADING
  44.  
  45. Switch on your Amiga and insert Ruffian disk 1 into the internal drive.
  46. Ruffian is played with a joystick pugged into the joystick port.

  48. BEFORE PLAY COMMENCES

  55. To access later levels of the game. Each level password is given on its

  61. SPEED
  62. To vary Ruffians speed, between 4 and 8 pixels per frame
  63.  
  64. INERTIA
  65. To vary Ruffians inertia, low or normal.

  67. HELPING HANDS
  68. Select either on/off. Helping hands assist in either 2 ways. Moving helping
  69. hands direct Ruffian to the last few pixies on the level. Then stationary
  70. helping hands are placed in a trail around a level (when all pixies are
  71. saved) to help direct REuffian to the exit.

  73. DIFFICULTY
  74. To alter Ruffians resistance between easy, normal and hard. Easy mode
  75. decreases Ruffians energy by 1% per frame, with four helping hands at the
  76. end of the level. Normal decreases energy by 2% with two helping hands.
  77. Hard decreases energy at 4% with one helping hand.

  85. JOYSTICK CONTROL
  86. Push up to jump, or climb if on a ladder. Left/right, to move left or
  87. right. Down, pull down then release for big jump (ater J potion picked up),
  88. or down if on a ladder.

  90. RUFFIANS MOST USEFUL FEATURE
  91. To spit at any angle press and hold the fire button, move the joystick
  92. left/rigth to position his head, then release the fire button to spit the
  93. pip.

  95. KEYBOARD CONTROL
  96. To restart the game press the ESC key.

  98. DISPLAY DURING THE GAME
  99. The number of pips remaining is shown in the bottom left hand side of the
  100. screen. Any number of pips can be collected, but the maximum number
  101. displayed on screen is 99. Ruffians power level is shown at the bottom of
  102. screen in the middle. Ruffians maximum power level is 100%. The time
  103. remaining is shown in the bottom right hand side of the screen.
  104. The number of lives remaining is displayed when Ruffian explodes each time
  105. he loses a lfe. When Ruffian loses all his lives he has 2 continues, each
  106. continue is worth 2 lives. When 9 or less pixies remain on any one level,
  107. the number of pixies to be saved is displayed on screen, where the last
  108. pixie was rescued before floating off the screen.

  110. END OF LEVEL DISPLAY
  111. Shows fruits collected, time remaining, number of pixies saved etc. and
  112. converts the numbers into a score when fire is pressed.
  113.  
  114. DISK ACCESS
  115. When the pixies are saved and the exit found th elevel is completed. When
  116. requested, place the required disk in the internal drive and press the
  117. joystick fire button.
  118.  
  119. POTION BOTTLES
  120. There are up to 17 different potions that can be found around a level. Each
  121. one has a helpful effect and are as follows:-
  122.  
  123. (E)  Increases energy by 10% (max 100%)
  124. (J)  Allows Ruffian to do a big jump (for the whole level). Pull down on
  125.      joystick then release for a big jump. Onlyt a small part of any level
  126.      (apart from level one) can be completed without it.
  127. (S)  Increases Ruffians speed by 1 pixel per frame for the whole level, up
  128.      to eight pixels per frame.
  129. (W)  Enters whirlwind mode, where Ruffian travels at full speed killing
  130.      baddies in his path.
  131. (P)  Changes pips to more powerful spinning stars and changes the effect on
  132.      some baddies. The pip carries on through baddies to kill others. If two big
  133.      pip potions are found the pips will home in on moving baddies.
  134. (T)  Gives one minute of extra time.
  135. (L)  Gives one extra life.
  136. (50) Gives 50 extra pips
  137. (10) Gives 10 extra pips.
  138. (R)  Makes Ruffian fire a spray of pips rapidly.
  139. (Q)  Quakes the screen to kill all baddies.
  140. (N)  Nukes all baddies on the screen in a brilliant flash of light.
  141. (I)  Makes Ruffian invincible for a few seconds.
  142. (F)  Freezes all baddies for a few seconds
  143. (C)  Icon brings on a flying carpet for Ruffian to fly to any part of a
  144.      level for 30 seconds or until he lands. Smiling pixie icon when found lifts
  145.      Ruffian back onto any branch he just fell or jumped off when the stick
  146.      is pushed up while falling. The exit icon if found, takes Ruffian to
  147.      the exit when all the pixies are saved.

  149. GAME TIPS
  150.  
  151. To spit at any angle press and hold fire button, move the joystick
  152. left/right to position his head, then release the fire button to spit the
  153. pip.
  154.  
  155. Each level is completed in two stages:-
  156. Free all the pixies within a reasonable time limit. Then find the exit of
  157. the level within a much shorter time limit, following a trail of helping
  158. hands left by the pixies.
  159.  
  160. Stationary hanging monkeys when hit will fall onto seesaws below them,
  161. springing Ruffian high into the air if he is positioned correctly on the
  162. other side of the seesaw. This feature is needed for example to reach the
  163. exit at the end of level 2.
  164.  
  165. Helping hands direct Ruffian to the last few pixies to be saved on any one
  166. level, and then leave a trail to the exit.
  167.  
  168. Whenever Ruffian runs out of pips he will be given 1 pip after 3 seconds.
  169.  
  170. Levels 1&2 have no big jump (J) potion, in all other levels (except the 2
  171. bonus levels) you can only progress so far unless you find it.
  172.  
  173. Pixies become more difficult to hit as Ruffian progresses through the game.
  174. To free them Ruffian must bounce pips off walls.
