This summary of the QWERTY WORD PROCESSOR has been prepared for the QWERTY SAMPLER package and is intended to provide the minimum information necessary to use and evaluate QWP.
Welcome to the QWERTY WORD PROCESSOR. QWP is known for its ease of learning and use and we trust that this full function copy will allow you to discover the wealth of QWP features as well as its friendly nature.
Whenever you start QWP, the following five-selection menu is presented.
CéREATE a new document
é EéDéIéTé éaéné éeéxéiésétéiénégé édéoécéuéméeénété éoéné édéiéséké
PéRINT a document from disk
LéIST names of documents on drive-X
DéOS operations (exit)
You may select from the menu by simply striking the first letter of the desired option ({Cé} {Eé} {Pé} {Lé} or {Dé}). You may also make a selection using {UéPé} {DéOéWéNé} {SéPéAéCéEé} and {RéEéTéUéRéNé}. (The slight difference between these two selection methods is described in the QWP manual.)
Holding a {SéHéIéFéTé} key when selecting PRINT will cause QWP to accept additional parameters (first page, last page, number of copies, etc.).
The remainder of this summary lists numerous features and options which all are very useful under certain conditions. However, if you are new to word processing you will do very well to ignore these advanced features for now and use only the following "starter set" of editing commands.
{LéEéFéTé} Move to previous CHARACTER
{RéIéGéHéTé} Move to next CHARACTER
{SéHéIéFéTééLéEéFéTé} Move to previous WORD beginning
{SéHéIéFéTééRéIéGéHéTé} Move to beginning of next WORD
{SéHéIéFéTééUéPé} Move to previous LINE beginning
{SéHéIéFéTééDéOéWéNé} Move to beginning of next LINE
{UéPé} Move to previous line (same column)
{DéOéWéNé} Move to next line (same column)
{DéEéLé} Delete CHARACTER
{CéTéRéLééRéIéGéHéTé} Delete to beginning of next WORD
{SéHéIéFéTééFé6é} Delete to beginning of next LINE
{CéTéRéLééUé} UN-DELETE
{SéHéIéFéTééEéSéCé} End edit
Then, as you become comfortable with QWP--it won't take long--experiment with other features. CUT&PASTE or SEARCH and SEARCH&REPLACE are likely next steps. KEYSAVER is extremely useful in some offices.
Enjoy using QWP. When you purchase a full capacity QWP the detail printed (bound) QWP manual will be included.

The following descriptions contain references to "verbaliázations." These verbal functions occur only if you have the QWP Speech Output option and a speech synthesizer.
Originally, QWP had no speech output capabilities, but because of its clean design and ease of use, QWP was used by totally blind typists with the aid of "screen review" software. Now, the additional screen review software is nüoütü required, and a blind typist can be just as productive as a sighted co-worker.
While speech output is necessary for the blind and extremely useful for the dyslexic typist and learning disabled student, it is also a source of information and confirmation that is of value to all.
The most recent addition to QWP is its Large Print Display option for those with poor vision who require on-screen magnification. Large Print Display has been included in the QWERTY SAMPLER because it is useful to people with "normal" vision when using some laptop computers or low quality monitors.
It is worthwhile to scan the following descriptions -- just to see what is available. Don't be overwhelmed. Initially you won't need any of it. But as you begin to demand more of QWP you will appreciate QWP's wealth of features.

A QWP Format Line is a line within a document that controls the format of the document. Common Format Lines are "rulers" to change the margins and tab stops, "NP" to force a new page, "BJ" to begin justification, etc.
Every Format Line begins with a {SéHéIéFéTééTéAéBé} (a Format Indicator) and ends with a {RéEéTéUéRéNé}.
Following is a summary of common QWP format lines. The "#" symbol represents a number. For page numbers # must be an integer. When specifying something in inches, up to two decimal places may be used, e.g., "TéMé:é1é.é2é5é" sets a 1.25 inch top margin.
