This document describes the steps necessary to use this new version
of ASAP.
The first step is to extract the components of this archive onto a
disk or a directory on your hard disk. Next, log onto that disk or
into that directory. If the disk were drive A:, you'd do that by
typing "A:" then pressing Enter. If you extracted the files into
a directory, type "CD", a space, and the name of the directory,
then press Enter.
After logging onto the appropriate drive or directory, type
"install" and press Enter to update an earlier version of ASAP to
this latest version.
If this is your first installation, please consult the
documentation which is located in a separate file called ASAP-
DOC.zip. It contains complete instructions for installation.
If this archive is more than a month old, there's a good chance
that there's a newer version of this program available. It can be
downloaded from the MicroTalk BBS at 502-893-2269. The latest
version is always available on the MicroTalk BBS.
MicroTalk is interested in your comments. If there's something
about ASAP you don't like, or if there's a feature you'd like to
see included in another revision, please let us know--you'll be
surprised at how much we listen. Most importantly, we're extremely
interested in programs you may find that don't function properly
with speech. Let us know about them.
If you decide you like the philosophy of automatic screen access,
you may purchase a registered version of the ASAP software for
$525.
MicroTalk bundles ASAP with the DoubleTalk synthesizer for $795,
and with the portable LiteTalk synthesizer for $895. These are the
recommended systems for use with ASAP, and the program was
developed in conjunction with the designers of the DoubleTalk to
make the marriage as close to perfect as possible.
MicroTalk is very responsive to suggestions and comments, and we
are open to nearly anything. That's just one thing that makes ASAP
so innovative. If you have ideas about features you'd like to see,
or if you're having any kind of problem using the package, don't
hesitate to contact MicroTalk. The best way to get directly in
touch with the author is via modem. You may reach him at the BBS
number listed above or at any of the following systems:
CompuServe at 74076,2075
GENIE at MicroTalk
BIX at MicroTalk
You can also reach the author through the FIDO network with the
address "MicroTalk." If you don't have a modem, the voice number
listed above is also an option. Please keep in mind, though, that
the author is probably as busy as you are, and the modem route
saves everyone time and money.
