  11.   NOTE: These systems are also referred to as Lacuna systems.

  13. RESOLUTION:
  14.  
  15. Obtain the S3 driver diskette and the driver diskette for DOS and
  16. windows, which includes the XVA DMQS.  Follow the installation
  17. instructions under the video device driver section in your
  18. manual, ENHANCED LOCAL BUS GRAPHICS.
  19.  
  20. PROCEDURES:
  21.  
  22. Make sure you have the envelope labeled ENHANCED LOCAL BUS
  23. GRAPHICS.  The driver diskettes for DOS and Windows, OS/2 2.0,
  24. and OS/2 2.11 are in the envelope.

  26.  
  27.  1.  Open a DOS full screen.
  28.  
  29.  2.  Insert the diskette labeled Local Bus Graphics Device
  30.      Drivers DOS and Microsoft Windows 3.1, into the diskette
  31.      drive.
  32.  
  33.  3.  Change the command prompt of the diskette drive.
  34.  
  35.  4.  Type INST7677 and press Enter.  The logo screen appears
  36.      while the programs are loading, then the main menu appears.
  37.  
  38.  5.  Select "Install VESA SVGA BIOS Extension" and "configure
  39.      display profile"; and press Enter.  The VESA SVGA BIOS
  40.      Extension screeen appears.
  41.  
  42.  6.  On the "Change Display Profile" screen, select
  43.      the display type and press Enter.  The Enhanced
  44.      Local Bus Graphics Setup Main Menu appears.
  45.  
  46.  7.  Press F3 to exit. Remove the diskette. Shutdown and restart
  47.      the system.
  48.  
  49.  8.  Make sure the VGA drivers are installed.
  50.  
  51.  9.  Open an OS2 window or full screen session.
  52.  
  53. 10.  Insert the Local Bus Graphics Device Drivers
  54.        OS/2 2.1 diskette in the diskette drive.
  55.  
  56. 11.  To load the device dirver, at the command prompt, type:
  57.             A:S3INST A: C: and press Enter.
  58.  
  59.      A:  is the diskette drive
  60.      C:  is the drive where OS/2 2.1 resides
  61.  
  62. 12.  When instructed, remove the diskette.,
  63.        Shutdown and restart the computer.
  64.  
  65. 13.  Open an OS/2 fullscreen and type DSPINSTL and press Enter.
  66.        The Display Driver Install window appears.
  67.  
  68. 14.  Verify that "S3" is the default choice.
  69.  
  70. 15.  Select OK on the Primary Display Adapter Type panel.

  72. 16.  When asked to select an installation method, select Install
  73.      Using Defaults and select OK.  The Source Directory
  74.      panel appears.
  75.  
  76. 17.  Select Install.
  77.  
  78. 18.  When instructed to insert "S3 Display Drvier Diskette" ,
  79.      insert the diskette labeled Local Bus Graphics Device
  80.      Drivers OS/2 2.1 in the diskette drive and press Enter.

  82. 19.  When display installation is done, shutdown and restart the
  83.      computer.
  84.  
  85. 20.  Open the OS/2 System folder.
  86.  
  87. 21.  Open the System Setup folder.
  88.  
  89. 22.  Select the System object.  The screen page of the Settings
  90.      notebook lists all supported resolutions for your
  91.      configuration.  Select one and close the notebook.
  92.  
  93. 23.  Shutdown and restart the computer.
