- USING AND ACCESSING THE IBM PCC BBS

- Setup your communications software to dial 919-517-0001.
- When you are connected, the system asks for your name and
- password. If you do not have a password the system asks you
- to select one.

- Select (L)ist for a list of directories.
- From the list, select one. The list of OS/2 files include:
-
- 10:OS/2 Utilities 11:OS/2 Programming
- 12:OS/2 Graphics & Music 13:OS/2 Entertainment
- 14:OS/2 Communications Files 15:OS/2 Text Files
- 16:OS/2 Applications 17:OS/2 Device Drivers
- 18:OS/2 Bulletin Board 36:ValuePoint Files

- Select the one you want.

- Look through the file list in the selection and select (M)ark
- to mark the letter of the file you want. If you want
- additional files, (C)ontinue and (M)ark the ones you want.
- When finished, select (N)o and then Return.

- From the main menu select (D)ownload then (M)arked files
- and then the letters of the marked files. Select the download
- protocol you wish to use. Select Autologoff or not.

- When you see "Ready To Send Files" message, set your software for
- the proper protocol (XMODEM should be acceptable). If files have
- an extension of .ZIP you need to unzip the files using a version
- of PKUNZIP. The latest version is PKZ204G.EXE. After
- downloading the file, type:
- PKZ204 and press Enter
- It "unzips" the ZIP file and the files are ready to use. See
- the README.DOC for further instructions. README files can be
- viewed from an OS/2 window, Type:
- EPM README.DOC and press Enter

- HOW TO LOG ON AND DOWNLOAD FROM THE IBM BBS (919-517-0001)

- PROCEDURES:
-
- 1. Select the OS/2 System icon.
- 2. Select the Productivity icon
- 3. Select the PM Terminal icon.
- 4. Select IBM PUBLIC BBS.
- 5. Change phone number from 404-835-6600 to 919-517-0001,
- and select SAVE.
- 6. Choose dial to call the BBS. When you connect to BBS, you
- are asked for the following information.
- 7. Name(F) JOHN
- 8. Name(L) SMITH
- 9. Answer Yes (Y) to register
- 10. Yes (Y) for ANSI graphics if your system can handle it
- 11. Select a password: SUNNY
- 12. Re-enter password: SUNNY
- 13. City, state: BOCA RATON, FL
- 14. Model # if you are using a PS/2 System: type the model and
- press Enter OR press Enter if you are not using a PS/2.

- You are prompted for the following information:

- 16. How did you hear of us: IBM
- 17. Street Address: 1 SOUTH STREET
- 18. City, state, zip: BOCA RATON, FL, 33418
- 19. How many times do you think you will call: 10
- 20. Do you make or influence PC buying for your company YES/NO
- 21. Will this support influence your next computer Purchase Y/N
- A Welcome Screen appears. Press Enter to read the news.
- Choose No if you do not want to read the news. The Welcome
- Screen/Main Menu appears.
- 22. Type S to search for a file and then press Enter.
- EXAMPLE: 21WPSF.* - the BBS is searched
- 23. When it finds the file type M to mark the file
- (ie. A,B,C,D) (A) 21WPSF.ZIP 152100 10-27-93
- OS/2 2.1 SHUTDOWN FIX
- 24. Q for quit
- 25. You are the Main Screen. Type D to download file.
- 26. M for marked files
- 27. All of the files you marked to download are displayed.
- For example, one file was marked, so it will be displayed
- as: (A) 21WPSF.ZIP. Choose A to download this file.
- 28. You are asked for a protocol. Choose X modem.
- 29. Choose auto logoff to disconnect after the transfer.
