  13.     1. Make sure you are using the latest TMV1SCSI.ADD
  14.        from Media Vision.
  15.     2. Add the driver to the CONFIG.SYS as a BASEDEV statement.
  16.     3. Perform a selective install for the CD-ROM, usually
  17.        it is a NEC 74 or 84.
  18.     4. Perform shutdown and restart the system.  You should
  19.        be able to play CD-AUDIO.
  20.        If you cannot play CD-AUDIO, check to see if the selective
  21.        install put a BASEDEV statement for NECCDS1.FLT.  This
  22.        file is necessary to play CD-AUDIO.
  23.     5. If the .FLT is not in the CONFIG.SYS, you need to unpack
  24.        and copy the file to the OS/2 directory.
  25.        a. The file is located in a packed file called CDROM.FLT.
  26.           It is on different diskettes, depending the build level
  27.           of OS/2 you are using.
  28.  
  29.           2.1 GA 3.5 Blue = Diskette 10
  30.           2.1 GA 3.5 Salmon = Diskette 6
  31.           2.1 GA 5.25 = Diskette 19
  32.           2.1 GA CD-ROM = Diskette 10
  33.           2.1 OS/2 for Windows 3.5 = Diskette 9

  35.         b. Use UNPACK.EXE to unpack CDROM.FLT and copy the filter
  36.            file to the \OS2 directory.
  37.         c. Edit the CONFIG.SYS and add the BASEDEV statement.
  38.         d. Perform shutdown and restart the system.
  39.  
  40. Sound Blaster
  41.  
  42.      1. Make sure you are using the latest driver ( SBCD2.ADD )
  43.         from Creative Labs.
  44.      2. Add the driver to the CONFIG.SYS as a BASEDEV statement.
  45.  
  46.                 BASEDEV=SBCD2.ADD /P:xxx
  47.  
  48.                 /P:xxx = I/O address of the sound card.
  49.  
  50.      3. Perform a selective install for CD-ROM support and
  51.         select OTHER.
  52.      4. Perform shutdown and restart the system.  You should be
  53.         able to play CD-AUDIO.
  54.      5. If you can not play CD-AUDIO, do the following:
  55.            a. If you have an internal CD-ROM connected to
  56.               the CD-ROM interface of the sound card, you
  57.               need to install the DOS drivers for the card in a
  58.               DOS fullscreen and then run the MIXER utility.
  59.               You can boost the volume level of the CD-ROM. This
  60.               remains until you restart the system.
  61.  
  62.   This is a hardware problem and Creative Lab is working on it.
  63.  
  64.             You can also try and download the latest
  65.             MMPM/2 drivers from Creative Labs BBS.
  66.  
  67.             b. If you have an external CD-ROM and are running
  68.                a line out from the CD-ROM into the Line IN of the
  69.                sound card, you have two choices.
  70.  
  71.      1. Download the latest soundblaster driver's for MMPM/2
  72.         (SB_OS2.EXE ) from Creative Labs.  This fixes the LINE IN
  73.         set to zero and resets the FM chip for DOS applications
  74.         that do not produce sound after installation.
  75.         MMPM/2.
  76.      2. If you cannot get the new drivers as a workaround, open
  77.         the Digital Audio applet in the MMPM/2 folder.  This
  78.         sets a nominal number for the Line IN volume, which
  79.         allows pass-thru to line-out.
  80.  
  81. ================================================================
  82.                  SYSTEM SOUNDS
  83.  
  84.  
  85. A. Sounds repeat after starting the system or during
  86.    play back of WAV file.
  87.      1. Always IRQ conflictions.
  88.         a. Refer to the documentation to find the IRQ
  89.            settings for devices installed in the machine.
  90. B. No system sound or hangs after installing MMPM/2.
  91.      1. Make sure IRQ's, DMA's and I/O address are not being
  92.         shared by other devices.
  93.  
  94.       NOTE: Make sure address 330 is not being used by any other
  95.       device.  330 is used by the sound card for the MIDI port.
  96.       Usually ADAPTEC cards use the address.
  97.  
  98.       2. Check jumpers on Sound card.  Make sure they match
  99.          what you selected for the sound card during the MINSTALL.
  100.          Check the CONFIG.SYS.
  101.       3. Wrong card selected during the MINSTALL.
  102.  
  103. C. SYS 1201 error on sound card driver after installing MMPM/2.
  104.       1. Make sure you have a sound card in the machine.
  105.       2. Make sure you are using a card supported under
  106.          MMPM/2.
  107.          -  SOUND BLASTER ( 8 BIT, DPS 2.0 )
  108.          -  SOUND BLASTER PRO ISA or MCV (OPL2, OPL3)
  109.          -  SOUND BLASTER 16/ASP and new jumperless ( 16 BIT )
  110.          -  IBM M-AUDIO (16 BIT)
  111.          -  Pro Audio Spectrum 16/STUDIO (16 bit)
  112.       3. If you are using a Sound Blaster ( 8 Bit ), make sure
  113.          the card is at DSP 2.0. It must be at that level to
  114.          work under OS/2 2.1 and MMPM/2 1.1. The DSP chip is
  115.          labeled CT 1351.
  116.       4. The wrong card was selected under the MINSTALL.
  117.  
  118. D. WAV files sounds are truncated.
  119.       1. Check the device statement for the sound in
  120.          CONFIG.SYS, for example:
  121.  
  122.           DEVICE=C:\MMOS2\SBP2D2.SYS 1 1 5 220 4 /N:SBAud1$
  123.  
  124.        4 is the buffer value that can be change to 2,4,6,8
  125.  
  126. NOTE:  Make sure you are using the latest MMPM/2 drivers for your
  127.        sound card.  Contact the respective manufacturer for these
  128.        drivers.
  129.

  131.  MMPM/2 Applets
  132.  
  133. A. Error " Desired action not supported or card may be defective "
  134.    when starting the DIGITAL AUDIO program.
  135.        1. Usually a hardware conflict. Check IRQ,DMA,I/O address.
  136.        2. Another session or application may be using the Sound
  137.           card.  Device sharing is not allowed.
  138. B. Playing Software Motion Video (AVI) from CD-ROM. Video is slow
  139.    or jerky.
  140.        1. If you are using a CD-ROM that is connected to the CD-
  141.           Interface of a supported sound card:
  142.           a. Make sure you are using the latest driver from
  143.              the manufacturer (TMV1SCSI.ADD and SBCD2.ADD )
  144.           b. Make sure you are running at highest resolution
  145.              and at least 1 meg of memory on the video card.
  146.           c. If the above criteria has been met, refer to the
  147.              ServicePack for OS/2 2.1 or MR1.  Software Motion
  148.              Video playback has improved performance in the
  149.              new release of MMPM/2.
  150.  
  151. ================================================================
  152.        Other Problems
  153.  
  154. A. After installing MMPM/2, you can no longer get their DOS
  155.    apps to produce sound using a SOUND BLASTER.
  156.         1. Download the latest drivers from Creative Labs BBS
  157.            (SB_OS2.EXE) .
  158.         2. If you cannot get new drivers, try the following:
  159.            a. Install the DOS drivers for the card.
  160.            b. Make sure the IRQ,DMA,I/O address match what was
  161.               set during MINSTALL.
  162.            c. From a DOS FULLSCREEN, go to the directory that was
  163.               created for the DOS drivers.
  164.            d. Run SBMIDI.
  165.            e. Go to the PLAYMIDI directory and
  166.               type the exe.:
  167.  
  168.                            PLAYMIDI JAZZ.
  169.  
  170.            f. This plays a midi file and also initialize the
  171.               sound card.
  172.            g. Press Esc to stop the midi file from playing and
  173.               run the executable for game.
  174. B. You have MMPM/2 installed and go to a DOS FULLSCREEN
  175.    and play the game.  When you exit, the system sounds begin
  176.    to repeat or loop.
  177.         1. IRQ conflict - Make sure IRQ,DMA, I/O address match what
  178.            is in the CONFIG.SYS for the MMPM/2 driver for the sound card.
  179.  
  180.   ** Files names on Creative Labs and Media Vision are subject to change.
