  15. AutoCAD V10 386 is not compatible with OS/2 2.x.  If you
  16. want to run AutoCAD V10, it must be the Standard AutoCAD V10.

  20. AUTOCAD VERSION 12
  21.  
  22. 1.  There are several levels of AutoCad V12; C1, C2, and C3.
  23.     AutoCAD V12 must be at level C2 or C3 to run under an OS/2
  24.     2.1 DOS session.
  25.  
  26. 2.  There is a fix available from AutoDesk that updates level
  27.     C1 to level C2.  Please call Vendor for update.  Details
  28.     below for "PHARLAP DOS EXTENDER FOR AUTOCAD V12 C1".
  29.  
  30. 3.  For optimum performance of AutoCAD under OS/2, make the
  31.     following changes to your OS/2 DOS Full Screen Session
  32.     settings.

  48. PHARLAP DOS EXTENDER FOR AUTOCAD V12 C1
  49. ----------------------------------------------------------------

  51. The AutoDesk AutoCAD Release 12 PharLap Patch is supported and
  52. on Compuserve in the ACAD Forum.  The file, OS2PCH.ZIP is in the
  53. WHAT'S NEW library.
  54.  
  55. Type: GO ACAD or ACAD to get to the forum.
  56.  
  57. You must have IBM's Service Pak XRO6200 or XR06300 OS/2 2.1, or
  58. XRO6100 for OS/2 2.0 installed to run AutoCAD V12 C1 in an OS/2
  59. VDM (DOS) session.

  61.    NOTE: You should obtain the IBM Service Pak directly from IBM.
  62.          For more information about Service Pak, call IBM at
  63.          1-800-992-4777.

  65. A new PharLap DOS Extender, version 4.1-ACAD2, when accompanied
  66. with the OS/2 Service Pak from IBM, allows AutoCAD V12 C1
  67. to run in an OS/2 2.0 or OS/2 2.1 Full Screen DOS session.

  69. DOS Extender 4.1-ACAD2 is an update to version 4.1-ACAD which
  70. AutoCAD V12 C1 currently uses.  The DOS Extender is an integral
  71. part of AutoCAD.

  75. DOS EXTENDER 4.1-ACAD2 BENEFITS
  76. ----------------------------------------------------------------
  77. Ability to run AutoCAD V12 C1 in a full screen OS/2 DOS session.
  78.  
  79.    NOTE: This update should only be done if you want to run
  80.          AutoCAD V12 C1 in an OS/2 2.x DOS session.  The
  81.          environment for running AutoCAD in an OS/2 Dos session
  82.          is similar to running within a DOS session under
  83.          Windows 3.1.  Please refer to the section "Running
  84.          AutoCAD 386 under Windows" in the Release 12
  85.          Installation and Performance Guide.

  87.          It is necessary to update the display driver
  88.          RCPSVADI.EXE.  This is more commonly known as the
  89.          SVADI driver.  A new version of this driver is
  90.          enclosed on the update diskette.

  94. UPDATING AUTOCAD 12 C1 TO USE DOS EXTENDER 4.1-ACAD2
  95. ----------------------------------------------------------------
  96.  
  97. The NEWDX.EXE program, on the DOS Extender update
  98. diskette, removes DOS Extender 4.1-ACAD from AutoCAD V12
  99. C1 and replaces it with version 4.1-ACAD2.
  100.  
  101. NEWDX works with AutoCAD R12 C0 and AutoCAD R12 C1. If you are
  102. using a digitizer, we recommend that you upgrade to AutoCAD
  103. V12 C1 for improved digitizer performance.
  104.  
  105. This procedure should be done on the installed copy of AutoCAD
  106. V12 C1, and NOT on original diskettes.
  107.  
  108. 1. Change directories to AutoCAD V12 C1 executable directory.
  109.  
  110.           CD\ACAD                   and press Enter
  111.  
  112. 2. Back up your copy of ACAD.EXE
  113.  
  114.           COPY ACAD.EXE ACADSAV.EXE and press Enter
  115.  
  116. 3. Copy DOS Extender update program into executable directory
  117.  
  118.           COPY A:NEWDX.*   and press Enter
  119.  
  120. 4. Execute the program NEWDX.EXE
  121.  
  122.            NEWDX ACAD.EXE   and press Enter
  123.  
  124. 5. NEWDX preserves any DOS Extender switch settings that you may
  125.    have had in the earlier version of the DOS Extender.
  126.  
  127. 6. If for any reason you encounter problems with DOS Extender
  128.    version 4.1-ACAD2, copy saved executable to ACAD.EXE.
  129.  
  130.            COPY ACADSAV.EXE ACAD.EXE  and press Enter
  131.  
  132. 7. Update the RCPSVADI.EXE driver.
  133.  
  134.            CD\ACADR12\DRV   and press Enter
  135.            COPY RCPSVADI.EXE RCPSVADI.SAV  and press Enter
  136.            COPY A:RCPSVADI.EXE  and press Enter
  137.  
  138.    The updated driver contains a work around for an OS/2 bug.
  139.    It works in all environments.

  143. VIDEO RESOLUTION
  144. ----------------------------------------------------------------
  145. Run AutoCAD V12 C1 at 600x480x16 or 800x600x16 display
  146. resolution.  Higher resolutions or more colors may cause problems
  147. unless the display driver has an intelligent screen grabber.

  151. GENERAL OS/2 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  152. ----------------------------------------------------------------

  154. OS/2 runs AutoCAD V12 C1 much better with 16MB than 8MB.  The
  155. time between applications improves.  More memory may be required
  156. if you want to run multiple sessions of AutoCAD.
