  8.         DESCRIPTION OF SYMPTOMS:

  10.         Systems will boot to a black screen with a blinking cursor if
  11.         there is a hardware conflict or if the the most recent S3 drivers
  12.         are not being used.

  17.         1.      Verify that there are no IRQ or I/O conflicts between the
  18.                 video adapter and other devices.

  20.         2.      Make sure that the most recent S3 drivers are in use.

  23.          DETAILS OF RESOLUTION:

  25.         1.      Verify that no device is using IRQ 2 or I/O address 02E8.
  26.                  IRQ 2 is normally used by devices such as Token
  27.                 Ring adapters, and network cards. I/O address 02E8 is
  28.                 revered for com4.
