  4. Microsoft MS-DOS 6.2 upgrade and OS/2 . . .

  7. Before starting the upgrade, please refer to the Getting Started book with
  8. MS-DOS 6.2.
  9.

  11. Installing the upgrade on an OS/2 DUAL BOOT system:
  12.  
  13. The MS-DOS 6.2 upgrade must be installed while DOS is the current operating
  14. system.  If you are running OS/2 as the current operating system, the steps
  15. below should be taken:
  16.  
  17. (1.)  Boot to DOS by opening an OS/2 Window and typing:
  18.  
  19.       BOOT /DOS
  20.  
  21. (2.)  Once the boot procedure is complete, place the MS-DOS 6.2 upgrade
  22.       diskette in the appropriate drive and type:
  23.  
  24.       A:SETUP (if the diskette is in the A: drive) or
  25.       B:SETUP (if the diskette is in the B: drive)
  26.  
  27. (3.)  After a proper upgrade has been completed, please review the CONFIG.SYS
  28.       and AUTOEXEC.BAT files for the proper OS/2 statements.  If they are not
  29.       there, please refer to the Installation Guide and place the statements
  30.       as necessary.

  32. (4.)  After these statements have been verified, dual boot should function as
  33.       before.  To return to OS/2, type:
  34.  
  35.       C:\OS2\BOOT /OS2
  36.

  38. Installing the upgrade on an OS/2 BOOT MANAGER system:
  39.  
  40. The MS-DOS 6.2 upgrade must be installed while DOS is the current operating
  41. system.  If you are running OS/2 as the current operating system, the steps
  42. below should be taken:
  43.  
  44. (1.)  Complete a proper shutdown of OS/2 by placing the mouse cursor on the
  45.       desktop and pressing your right mouse button.  When the "pop-up" menu
  46.       has appeared, choose Shutdown from the menu.  Follow the instructions
  47.       until the system has told you it is safe to turn of the system or
  48.       reboot.  Rather than turn the machine off, execute a warm boot by
  49.       pressing CTRL - ALT - DEL.

  51. (2.)  When the Boot Manager menu appears, choose to boot to the DOS partition.
  52.  
  53. (3.)  Once the boot procedure is complete, place the MS-DOS 6.2 upgrade
  54.       diskette in the appropriate drive and type:
  55.  
  56.       A:SETUP (if the diskette is in the A: drive) or
  57.       B:SETUP (if the diskette is in the B: drive)
  58.  
  59. (4.)  Once the upgrade has completed, use the DOS FDISK program to set the
  60.       Boot Manager partition as ACTIVE, or refer to page 132 of the OS/2 2.1
  61.       Installation Guide on "making boot manager startable."
