  2. OS2LOCK.FAX                        LOCK UTILITY PROBLEMS

  6. READ ENTIRE FAX AND USE THE SOLUTION FOR YOUR SYMPTON 
  7.

  12. SYMPTONS:  
  13.  
  14. 1) If you forgot your OS/2 Lockup password 
  15.               
  16. 2) Your password is not being recognized 
  17.  
  18. 3) Unable to exit from lockup or you are in loop 
  19.  
  20.  
  21.  
  22. SOLUTION:  
  23.  
  24. 1)  Do a shutdown from the desktop menu, or POWER OFF (if you
  25.     are unable to do a proper shutdown), or press and hold down,
  26.     CTRL + ALT, and press DEL with the Installation Diskette in
  27.     the bootable drive.
  28.  
  29. 2)  Put diskette #1 in drive when prompted and press <enter>.
  30.  
  31. 3)  When the WELCOME screen appears, press ESC to cancel.
  32.  
  33. 4)  At this point you should be at a A:  Prompt
  34.  
  35. 5)  At A:  command prompt type "X:"  <enter>
  36.           where X:  is where OS/2 resides, C:, D:, etc)
  37.  
  38. 6)  Type, "CD \OS2" <enter>.
  39.  
  40. 7)  Type "ATTRIB OS2.INI -R" <enter>.
  41.  
  42. 8)  Type "MAKEINI OS2.INI LOCK.RC" <enter>.
  43.  
  44. 9)  Type "ATTRIB OS2.INI +R" <enter>.
  45.  
  46. 10) WHEN you see MAKEINI SUCCESSFUL, take diskette out of the
  47.     drive and reboot the machine.
  48.  
  49. You should now be able to reset the password.  If you have any 
  50. problems with this procedure contact 1-800-992-4777.

  56. SYMPTONS:  
  57.  
  58. 1) If your lockup automatically locks up and you don't want it 
  59.    to automatically lockup
  60.  
  61. 2) If you want to change or adjust settings for lockup 
  62.  
  63.

  65. SOLUTION:
  66.  
  67. 1) Go to desktop and click on blank space of desktop with right 
  68.    mouse button and desktop pop-up menu will display
  69.  
  70. 2) Click on the arrow in open --> with left mouse button and it 
  71.    will display the settings
  72.  
  73. 3) Click on LOCKUP tab with left mouse button and it will display 
  74.    the settings for lockup
  75.  
  76. 4) **If you do NOT want automatic lockup enabled, click with left
  77.      mouse button, have bullet in NO AUTOMATIC LOCKUP 
  78.   
  79.    **If you want to change or enable another settings, click
  80.      with left mouse button, and enable the one you want.  
  81.   
  82.    **If you want to change the timeout, click on the right side
  83.      arrow and adjust the minutes to your choice.

  85. 5) Double click on the little icon in the upper left hand corner 
  86.    to close the notebook.
