  11. If the installation procedure stops, you might be able to
  12. complete the installation without reusing all the installation
  13. diskettes.  You do not have to use all diskettes again if the
  14. installation stopped after you were prompted to put the
  15. Installation Diskette in the drive the second time (after you are
  16. in the graphical installation).  For example, if you were copying
  17. files from Diskette 9 on a 3.5-inch-diskette system, you could
  18. resume the installation at Diskette 9 after doing the following:
  19.  
  20.      1.  Identify which diskette was being "unpacked" when the
  21.          installation procedure stopped.
  22.  
  23.      2.  Subtract the number of that diskette from 15 and add one
  24.          to the result if you have 3.5-inch installation
  25.          diskettes. (Subtract the number from 18 if you have
  26.          5.25-inch installation diskettes.)  For example, if you
  27.          were on Diskette 9 on a 3.5-inch system, the result
  28.          would be 7.

  30.      3.  Start the computer with the Installation Diskette, and
  31.          then insert Diskette 1 when prompted.
  32.  
  33.      4.  When you are prompted, press Esc to cancel. A command
  34.          prompt appears.
  35.  
  36.      5.  Use a text editor to edit the CONFIG.SYS file on the
  37.          hard disk.
  38.  
  39.      6.  On the line that starts with FIRSTDISK, change the
  40.          number to the number of the diskette that was in the
  41.          diskette drive when the installation procedure stopped.
  42.          For example, if installation stopped on diskette 9,
  43.          the line should read:

  45.                        FIRSTDISK=9
  46.  
  47.      7.  In the line that starts with NUMDISKS, change the
  48.          number to the one you reached in step 2.  In the
  49.          example, this is 7.

  51.                        NUMDISKS=7
  52.  
  53.      8.  Remove the diskette and press Ctrl+Alt+Del.  You see the
  54.          graphical install panel.  Select OK.  Select INSTALL.
  55.          Select all defaults.
  56.  
  57.      9.  When you are prompt, insert the diskette that
  58.          was being loaded when the installation procedure
  59.          stopped.
  60.  
  61.      All the Selective Install choices you selected when you
  62.      originally tried to install OS/2 2.x are preserved.
