  12. You can do one of the following when your 3.5 drive is Drive B:
  13. and your OS/2 package contains 3.5" diskettes.
  14.  
  15. 1. Exchange the OS/2 package for a 5.25 version.
  16.  
  17. 2. Download a redirection diskette from IBM PCC BBS or
  18.    CompuServe.  You also need PKUNZIP and LDF.COM.  Download:
  19.  
  20.      For BLUE diskettes:            PKUNZIP
  21.                                     INS21L.ZIP
  22.                                     LDF.COM
  23.  
  24.      For SALMON or GREEN diskettes: PKUNZIP
  25.                                     INS21M.ZIP
  26.                                     LDF.COM
  27.  
  28. Each file has a README that provides instructions on how to use
  29. the files.
  30.  
  31. PKUNZIP is addressed shortly after logging on and gives
  32. you the option to download it.
  33.  
  34. If you are using the IBM PCC BBS, 919-517-0001, files are
  35. located:
  36.           OS2 libraries, DIR 4
  37.  
  38. If you are using CompuServe, files are located:
  39.  
  40.           OS2 libraries, DIR 17
  41.  
  42. 3. Create 5.25" OS/2 bootable diskettes using following
  43.    procedure and install OS/2 from drive B:.
  44.  
  45. 4. You can change your CMOS or BIOS setup and switch cables
  46.    on the diskette drives.
  47.  
  48. For a COUNTRY.SYS error message on diskette 1 while redirecting:
  49.   Check cables to verify if there are correctly switched
  50.   Check the CMOS for necessary changes for switching drives
  51.  
  52. If problems or questions occur while doing this, CONTACT THE
  53. VENDOR of the system.

  56. Creating 5.25: Bootable Diskettes
  57. ================================================================
  58.  
  59. You need the DOS Debug utility, about 1.5MB space on the
  60. hard disk and two 1.2MB 5.25 diskettes.
  61.  
  62. Label one 5.25 diskette as OS/2 V2.1 525DISK 0 and the
  63. other diskette OS/2 V2.1 525DISK 1.
  64.  
  65. 1.  Insert the 525DISK 1 diskette in drive A:  and type:
  66.  
  67.       C:\>FORMAT A:  /U and press Enter
  68.  
  69. 2.  When prompted for volume label type:
  70.  
  71.       DISK 1 and press Enter.
  72.  
  73. 3.  When prompted Format another diskette (Y/N)?
  74.       Press Y  and press Enter.
  75.  
  76. 4.  Remove the diskette and insert 525DISK 0 in drive A:
  77.     and press Enter
  78.  
  79. 5.  When prompted for volume label DISK 0, press Enter.

  81. 6.  When prompted Format another diskette (Y/N)?
  82.       Press N and press Enter.

  84. 7.  Insert the OS/2 v2.1 Installation Diskette in drive B:.  Type
  85.     the following commands, pressing Enter after each one.
  86.       C:\>DEBUG
  87.       -L DS:0 1 0 1
  88.       -E 13 60
  89.       -E 14 09
  90.       -E 15 F9
  91.       -E 16 07
  92.       -E 18 0F
  93.       -W DS:0 0 0 1
  94.       -Q

  96.       C:\>COPY B:\OS2BOOT A:\
  97.       C:\>COPY B:\OS2LDR A:\
  98.       C:\>COPY B:\OS2LDR.MSG A:\
  99.       C:\>COPY B:\OS2KRNLI A:\
  100.       C:\>COPY B:\ABIOS.SYS A:\
  101.       C:\>COPY B:\*.BIO A:\

  103. 8.  Remove OS/2 Installation Diskette from drive B: and 525DISK0
  104.     from drive A:.
  105.  
  106. 9.  Insert 525DISK 1 in drive A:  and OS/2 diskette 1 in drive B:
  107.  
  108. 10. Type the following commands, pressing Enter after each one.
  109.       C:\>MD BINST
  110.       C:\>COPY B:\*.* BINST
  111.       C:\>DEL BINST\BUNDLE
  112.       C:\>DEL BINST\SYSINST2.EXE
  113.       C:\>COPY BINST\*.* A:\
  114.       C:\>ECHO SET OS2_SHELL=CMD.EXE>> A:\CONFIG.SYS
  115.       C:\>ECHO SET DISKETTESOURCE=B:\ >> A:\CONFIG.SYS

  117. 11. Insert 525DISK 0 in drive A: and restart the system.
  118.  
  119. 12. When prompted for Diskette 1, insert 525DISK 1 in drive A:
  120.  
  121. 13. Press Enter.  This takes you to an A: prompt.
  122.  
  123. 14. Insert OS/2 Diskette 1 in drive B:. At the A: prompt type:
  124.       B:\SYSINST2
  125.  
  126. 15. Press Enter to start the OS/2 installation from drive B:.
  127.  
  128. 16. You are prompted to insert OS/2 v2.1 Installation diskettes
  129.     in drive B:.
  130.  
  131. 17. Leave the 525DISK 1 in drive A:  until you are prompted to remove
  132.     all diskettes to restart the system.
