- REMOVING OS/2 2.x FROM A PRE-LOAD SYSTEM
- ================================================================
-
- Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures
- ----------------------------------------------------------------
-
- This procedure shows you how to remove OS/2 from your preloaded
- computer. You need to install another operating system, DOS for
- example, to use the system. The computer cannot run without an
- operating system.
-
- You need utility diskettes for this procedure.
-
- ----------------------------------------------------------------
- CREATING UTILITY DISKETTES
- ----------------------------------------------------------------
- Note: Use high density diskettes (at least 1.44MB).
-
- 1. Turn on the computer.
-
- 2. Close the OS/2 Tutorial.
-
- 3. Select the Configuration Tools folder icon.
-
- 4. Select the Create Utility Diskettes icon.
-
- 5. Select Drive A.
-
- 6. Insert the blank diskettes, as requested by the
- system.
-
- 8. After making the utility diskettes, close all open
- folders.
-
- 9. Place the mouse pointer in a blank portion of the
- desktop, and click on the right mouse button to display
- the pull-down menu.
-
- 10. Select SHUTDOWN, and select OK for all the
- confirmations.
-
- 11. When the "It is now safe to turn off your computer"
- message appears, turn the system off.
-
- ----------------------------------------------------------------
- REMOVING OS/2
- ----------------------------------------------------------------
- When you have utility diskettes, start the system with these
- diskettes to remove OS/2.
-
- 1. Insert Utility Diskette 1 into drive A.
-
- 2. Turn the system on. Diskette 1 takes a moment to
- load.
-
- 3. Insert Utility Diskette 2, when prompted.
-
- 4. At the A:\ prompt, insert:
-
- Diskette 1 - if you made 2 utility diskettes
- Diskette 3 - if you made 3 utility diskettes
-
- 5. Type: OSDELETE and press Enter.
-
- 6. When asked "Do You Wish To Continue?, press Y.
-
- 7. When asked "Do You Wish To Stop Now?, press N.
-
- 8. When asked for the system's serial number, type the
- correct number and press Enter.
-
- 9. This program deletes all OS2 related files and
- directories on the hard disk. After a few moments, a
- verification number is displayed. Keep this number so,
- if necessary, you can verify that you once had OS/2
- on your system.
-
-
- After OS/2 is removed, you can install another operating system.
