  5.               REMOVING OS/2 2.x FROM A PRE-LOAD SYSTEM

  11. This procedure shows you how to remove OS/2 from your preloaded
  12. computer.  You need to install another operating system, DOS for
  13. example, to use the system.  The computer cannot run without an
  14. operating system.
  15.  
  16. You need utility diskettes for this procedure.

  18. ----------------------------------------------------------------
  19. CREATING UTILITY DISKETTES
  20. ----------------------------------------------------------------
  21. Note: Use high density diskettes (at least 1.44MB).
  22.  
  23.      1.  Turn on the computer.
  24.  
  25.      2.  Close the OS/2 Tutorial.
  26.  
  27.      3.  Select the Configuration Tools folder icon.
  28.  
  29.      4.  Select the Create Utility Diskettes icon.
  30.  
  31.      5.  Select Drive A.
  32.  
  33.      6.  Insert the blank diskettes, as requested by the
  34.          system.
  35.  
  36.      8.  After making the utility diskettes, close all open
  37.          folders.
  38.  
  39.      9.  Place the mouse pointer in a blank portion of the
  40.          desktop, and click on the right mouse button to display
  41.          the pull-down menu.

  43.      10. Select SHUTDOWN, and select OK for all the
  44.          confirmations.
  45.  
  46.      11. When the "It is now safe to turn off your computer"
  47.          message appears,  turn the system off.

  50. REMOVING OS/2
  51. ----------------------------------------------------------------
  52. When you have utility diskettes, start the system with these
  53. diskettes to remove OS/2.
  54.  
  55.      1.  Insert Utility Diskette 1 into drive A.
  56.  
  57.      2.  Turn the system on.  Diskette 1 takes a moment to
  58.          load.
  59.  
  60.      3.  Insert Utility Diskette 2, when prompted.
  61.  
  62.      4.  At the A:\ prompt, insert:
  63.  
  64.             Diskette 1 - if you made 2 utility diskettes
  65.             Diskette 3 - if you made 3 utility diskettes
  66.  
  67.      5.  Type: OSDELETE and press Enter.
  68.  
  69.      6.  When asked "Do You Wish To Continue?, press Y.
  70.  
  71.      7.  When asked "Do You Wish To Stop Now?, press N.

  73.      8.  When asked for the system's serial number, type the
  74.          correct number and press Enter.
  75.  
  76.      9.  This program  deletes all OS2 related files and
  77.          directories on the hard disk.  After a few moments, a
  78.          verification number is displayed. Keep this number so,
  79.          if necessary, you can verify that you once had OS/2
  80.          on your system.
