WARP Tseng ET4000W32 Drivers
----------------------------

WARP's "readme" files contain no instructions for installing the Tseng
drivers. The following message was taken from the Hercules Forum. It
applies to Hercules Dynamite video cards, and probably most video cards
with Tseng W32 chips. Following these instructions eliminated some
problems I was having with seamless Windows, and also increased the speed
of Warp disk operations.

There is a problem in the current shipping version of Warp that prevents
access to the higher refresh rates. In a few weeks IBM will release a
video drivers update which will correct this problem. For now use the
following procedure to set higher refresh rates in OS/2 Warp.
Follow the instructions in the IBM documentation to install the display
drivers. After the drivers are installed use the following procedure to
configure the refresh rates:
1. Open a DOS full screen.
2. Enter the OS/2 directory.
3. From the OS/2 directory type: SVGA MONITOR DOS , at the monitor
configuration screen type AUTO, this will create a file called
SVGADATA.DOS
4. From the OS/2 directory type: Copy SVGADATA.DOS SVGADATA.PMI
5. Shut-down and Reboot.
6. Enter the "System" option in "System Setup" to select your resolution
and refresh rate, then follow the instructions below for WIN-OS/2.
*NOTE: DO NOT SELECT A REFRESH RATE HIGHER THAN YOUR MONITOR CAN SUPPORT,
OR MONITOR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
WIN-OS/2 FULL SCREEN REFRESH RATES
To set a refresh rate of 72 Hz for 640x480, 800x600 and 70 Hz for 1024x768
for WIN-OS/2 full screen do the following:
1. Add the following commands to AUTOEXEC.BAT:
C:\OS2\INSTALL\VMODE 72HZ
C:\OS2\INSTALL\VMODE 48K
C:\OS2\INSTALL\VMODE 72M
where C:\OS2\INSTALL is the name of your directory containing VMODE.COM.
2. Shutdown and reboot.
WIN-OS2 full screen will now be capable of 72 hz refresh at 640x480 and
800x600, and 70 hz for 1024x768. Be sure your monitor can handle the
higher refresh rates.
Here is a list of VMODE commands and the corresponding refresh rates:
COMMAND RESOLUTION REFRESH RATE
------- ---------- ------------
VMODE 60HZ 640x480 60 HZ
VMODE 72HZ 640x480 72 HZ
VMODE 35K 800x600 56 HZ
VMODE 38K 800x600 60 HZ
VMODE 48K 800x600 72 HZ
VMODE 45M 1024x768 87 HZ INTERLACED
VMODE 65M 1024x768 60 HZ
VMODE 72M 1024x768 70 HZ
VMODE 1280-I 1280X1024 86 HZ INTERLACED
VMODE 1280-60 1280X1024 60 HZ
VMODE 1280-70 1280X1024 70 HZ
* NOTE: DO NOT SELECT A REFRESH RATE HIGHER THAN YOUR MONITOR CAN SUPPORT,
OR MONITOR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
* The Hercules DOS programs POWERHZ and SETCRT can also be used to set
higher refresh rates in Win-OS/2.
