  10. KL-ZIP is a GUI interface for the shareware/public domain programs ZIP.EXE 
  11. and UNZIP.EXE for OS/2. KL-ZIP requires ZIP.EXE 2.0.1 (9/18/93) and
  12. UNZIP.EXE 5.01 (1/12/93). KL-ZIP will NOT work properly with PKZIP or
  13. PKUNZIP! KL-ZIP is designed to fully exploit OS/2's capabilities.
  14. KL-ZIP supports HPFS long file names. For readability
  15. KL-ZIP substitutes a '|' character whenever a SPACE is encountered in a 
  16. HPFS filename. This may be changed in a future version. I currently plan on
  17. posting all new versions on OS/2 Shareware BBS at 703-385-4325. I call there
  18. about once a week. You may contact me via messages there.

  21. KL-ZIP should be self explanatory, I hope to include docs and online
  22. help in a maintenance release at a later date.

  24. The Shareware version will NOT support HPFS long files names or
  25. loading filenames via ASSOCIATIONS unless it is registered! Also support
  26. for DRAG & DROP is only available in the registered version!
  27.  
  28. Registration is $10 until 08/01/94 after which it will be $25 !!
  29. Registeration ID is good for ALL PHANTASM Software products released
  30. through the end of 1995. (i.e. KLBENCH OS/2 Benchmarks, Schedule-IT!)

  46. I am only promising a release 1.xx, version 2.0 is very unsure.
  47. Version 2.0 will depend on my availability and how many
  48. people register 1.0. If there is a 2.0 it will take several
  49. months due to some scheduling conflicts.

  67. Known bugs:

  70. - In create ZIP, file list has limitations that will cause files not to
  71.     show. This is an OS/2 limitation and under normal circumstances
  72.     you will never see it unless you have several thousand files in
  73.     a directory! This limitation will apply to any LIST BOX in this
  74.     and any other OS/2 program!!

  153.     want to erase it. Saying NO prvents the ZT## temp directory from being
  154.     deleted. This may be handy to see why a certain action may have failed!

  189. - Again I apologize for the long delays between betas. Due to unforseen
  190.     assignments at work and the delay of the next release of the program
  191.     that KL-ZIP is written in I expect the official 1.0 release to be delayed
  192.     until late February or early March. Betas from now until 1.0 will NOT
  193.     expire until 5/1/94. The current code appears to be VERY stable so
  194.     this should not be a problem. Betas should show up about every 2-3
  195.     weeks until 1.0 is released.
  196. - Started adding the ADD COMMENTS code, but it is NOT functioning yet.
  197. - Started making code changes in preparation for the next release of
  198.     the compiler which has differencet features and will behave
  199.     differently than current version.

  203. - Added a config option to allow a PERMANENT WORK directory. Saw the need
  204.     for this when I got my CD-ROM drive last month. Hard to make a temp dir
  205.     on the current drive if it's a CD!! YOU must create the full path and work
  206.     directory manually! If you select PERMANENT WORK DIR and KL-ZIP
  207.     does NOT find it, it will default to trying to create a temp dir on the
  208.     current drive. If you suse a permanent WORK DIR then you should NOT
  209.     run more than one copy of KL-ZIP at a time!!!
  210. - Started working on cleaning up the ERROR messages and making them
  211.     more informative. IF you get an error VERIFY all settings in KL-ZIP are
  212.     set correct and ZIP.EXE and UNZIP.EXE are in your path or have actual
  213.     drive/paths set in KL-ZIP!

  218. - Added command line loading of a file name. If you start KL-ZIP from command
  219.     prompt followed by a file name KL-ZIP will load that ZIP file 
  220.     automatically if it is found in current directory. If not found then
  221.     KL-ZIP will assume you want to create that ZIP and start in CREATE ZIP
  222.     mode. (THIS FEATURE WILL BE DISABLED IN FINAL SHAREWARE VERSION!)

  243.     HPFS names, loading file names via association, default file create
  244.     if name provided and other features are now DISABLED unless a VALID
  245.     registration is found!!!
  246. - Supports DRAG AND DROP activation. If you drag a ZIP file onto the KL-ZIP
  247.     icon it will start up KL-ZIP with that file loaded. (REGSITERED VERSION
  248.     ONLY!) Also if KL-ZIP is running you can drap a single ZIP file ICON
  249.     on to the back ground of the main KL-ZIP list window and that ZIP
  250.     file will be processed and display.(REGISTERED VERSION ONLY!)
  251. - Beta cycle is winding down. Unless a major bug is found this should
  252.     be the LAST BETA!! I am looking at releaseing 1.00 within 10-14 days.
  253.     Once 1.00 is released registration will be $20.00 This beta does NOT
  254.     EXPIRE since the registration checking is active!

  262. - Added ability to drag and DROP several OS/2 TYPEs onto the final menu
  263.     when creating a ZIP and those files sill be added to the list of
  264.     files in the ZIP to be created. Currently this only supports several
  265.     OS/2 TYPES (Plain Text, Executable, etc.) I am working on a way for this
  266.     to dynamically support any TYPEs found on your system.
  267. - On schedule for a release of 1.00 in next 10 days! All registrations postmarked
  268.     after 1/31/94 will require the full registration price of $20.00

  273. - Added a Drag & Drop menu to the CREATE ZIP window. This allows you to select
  274.     the ASSOCIATIONS that will be valid to drag ICONS onto the CREATE
  275.     background to be added to the ZIP. Use with caution! Not all ASSOCIATIONS
  276.     are valid to be added to a ZIP!
  277. - Fixed some minor bugs and have the KL-ZIP ICON imbedded in the .EXE finally!
