OMEGA-TERM is a communications program for the modem, which
can be configured to suit your needs. You can configure the
communication parameters, file names, modem and printer, buffer
sizes, and windows and colors. Commands are easy-to-use, and can
be viewed on a pop-up menu. The 10 function keys can be defined
for your 10 most commonly-used commands. An on-screen clock
figure will help to keep track of how much time you spend on the
phone lines. OMEGA-TERM has extensive file functions. You can
view a file, rename a file, change file attributes, or delete a
file. Any directory listing will show all files on the diskette,
including hidden files, read-only files, and subdirectories. You
may create or delete a subdirectory, and show the amount of disk
space available. You can change the path and the default drive,
and shell to DOS. ANSI graphics can be toggled on or off, and
sessions can be captured onto disk.
ONE TO ONE (a.k.a. 121) is a unique telecommunications
program designed to be used for communications between two
individuals in real-time (as opposed to calling a BBS). 121
boasts several interesting features which include the ability to
type messages back and forth (chat) during a file transfer,
separate windows of text for incoming and outgoing messages (to
avoid garbled text caused by both people typing at the same
time), and the sharing of a text file (both individuals have
control over scrolling the file contents in a window).
Some other nice features include quick "pull-down" type
menus, and a thorough series of help screens (easy, too; just
point to a menu choice and press <HOME> and up pops a help
screen). All of these features combine to make this a good choice
of programs for novice as well as experienced users.
The program will run on any IBM-PC or compatible with at
least 128K memory and one disk drive (not many communication
programs will work on a single-drive system). The only drawback
is that the program must use a "HAYES"-compatible modem (one that
uses the AT command set).
One last word, since this program is designed as a tool for
human-to-human communication, it is not suited for communicating
with bulletin boards (BBS's) or on-line services. For these ones you
must use programs such as Q-MODEM and PRO-COMM which are designed
for this purpose.
Usage: Communications
System Requirements: IBM-PC, PCjr, and compatibles with at least
128K memory, one disk drive, a modem, and DOS 2.0 or higher.
