  41. Program Title: LIFE FORMS
  42.     LIFE FORMS is an excellent version of the game of life
  43. developed by the mathematician John Conway. The LIFE FORM  program
  44. creates video patterns that evolve like biological cells,
  45. according to a certain growth rate. This program takes  Conway's
  46. simple game and adds many additional features, including  eight
  47. extra different growth rules for producing whole new  families of
  48. screen images. The images are extremely colorful and  interesting
  49. to watch, especially on an EGA monitor! This program is  extremely
  50. simple to use, with lots of on-screen help and self  explanatory
  51. menus. The "life forms" that you create can be stored,  retrieved,
  52. edited, and deleted (killed). More than 100 life patterns  are
  53. supplied on the program disk, with room for 240 in all. You  can
  54. "capture a specimen from the zoo" or you can design a life  form
  55. according to your own specifications. You can control many
  56. factors that influence the growth cycle: complexity of
  57. development, species of the life form, its pigmentation  (color),
  58. habitat, and its original seed shape. There is a library of  seed
  59. patterns stored on disk, which have been specifically chosen  for
  60. the interesting results that they tend to produce. You can  choose
  61. one of these, edit them, or devise your own seed form. If  you
  62. need help, you can always view the parameters for each of  the
  63. life forms that are supplied on this disk. As your LIFE FORM
  64. starts growing, you can control how fast each growth step is
  65. displayed on the screen and you can even pause your life  form's
  66. development. Most of the weak species will "die" almost as  soon
  67. as they begin, but these species often produce more  interesting
  68. patterns if you can coax them to life. After viewing a newly
  69. created LIFE FORM, you can always go back to change certain
  70. patterns to see what developments take place. LIFE FORMS  requires
  71. an IBM PC or compatible with 128K memory, one disk drive,  color
  72. graphics adapter, color monitor, and DOS 2.1 or later. If  you want your
  73. chance to be creative and see how computer  life-forms evolve, this is it!

  76. Program Title: CROSSWORD CREATOR version 2.50
  77.     CROSSWORD CREATOR was designed primarily for educators,  but
  78. can be used by anyone who enjoys designing or solving  crossword
  79. puzzles. It provides the tools needed to lay out a crossword
  80. puzzle on the computer's screen, define a short clue for  each
  81. word in the puzzle, and save puzzle to disk so it may be  used
  82. again and again.
  83.     In addition to the design features, CWC has a "solve"  mode
  84. where anyone the can work with a pre-defined puzzle. CWC  shows
  85. the layout of the completed puzzle, but does not display the
  86. letters themselves. By viewing the clues for each word and
  87. supplying the proper letters, the puzzle can be exactly the  same
  88. way as a traditional crossword.
