Program name: Fansi-Console V2.00 (software on vol. 2356)
Program Description:
Fansi-Console is a memory-resident program that does many things. It replaces
the PC-DOS and the ROM BIOS console drivers. It also processes ANSI X3.64
control sequences, emulates the DEC VT-100 terminal, allows one finger
pausing, allows backscrolling of the screen (recalling lines scrolled off the
screen), allows keyboard macro assignment from running programs, allows more
memory for keyboard macros, turns off the display when not in use, allows
one finger typing, allow keyboard generated breakpoints, eliminates screen
flicker, provide support for 50 line displays with some graphics adapter
cards, extends the IBM-PC ROM BIOS, provides some control over the use of
color, provides control over key typematic rate, and has miscellaneous other
features.
The documentation is the best I have seen. It even includes a history of
changes from V1 to V2.00. The manual on disk is deliberately incomplete.
Some 60 pages covering key features is left out to encourage payment of the
registration fee.
Systems requirements are MS/PC-DOS 2.0 or greater, one disk drive, and a
computer, monochrome or graphics adapter and monitor which are hardware
equivalent to the IBM PC. No RAM memory requirements are mentioned, but
Fansi-Console will take up at least 24k byte of RAM for itself.
