  13. These HP laserjet soft fonts are based on GLYPHIX fonts. Though
  14. the base fonts are copyrighted, any derivated fonts are NOT.
  15. Therefore, this is a small sample of their Centrum Style font.
  16. These are straight 10 and 12 point normal, italic and bold type
  17. faces. Included are straight versions of 18 and 24 point fonts.
  18.    I have created my own version of font naming. The first
  19. 3characters are the type face, the next two are the point size,
  20. the 6th character is 'R' for regular upright, 'I' for italic, 'B'
  21. for bold and 'S' for any variation from the normal type face. The
  22. next is for the level of bolding from B0 to B9. The extension is
  23. either USP - portrait or USL for landscape mode. As an example:
  24. GAR12IB0.USP is Garamet, 12 point italic, no bolding, in portrait
  25. mode. (NB: This means that they are _7-bit_ fonts, no support for
  26. European characters with ' ` or "! PoCo.)
  27.    The beauty of Glyphix is that you can create your own type of
  28. fonts with almost infinite variations of style. You can vary your
  29. fonts with four (or more type faces), orientation of portrait or
  30. landscape, point size from 4 to 60 points, expansion of width from
  31. 25% to 400%, changing weight of the type from -5 to 9 where 0 is
  32. normal, fill patterns of 12 options and slanted type from the left
  33. or to the right up to several percent. Their ad states up to
  34. 200,000 variations. I believe it!

  36. Garamond fonts (also in HPFONTS.ZIP)
  37. This package contains three fixed width, 10 cpi versions of the
  38. Garamond font, and a limited version of my standard soft font
  39. download program.
  40. This font should be compatible with any of the LaserJet series of
  41. printers. It has been tested on a LaserJet II, using the download
  42. program included with this package.
  43.    If you like these fonts and are interested in other style fixed
  44. width (Roman-Times regular, bold, & italic at 8, 10, & 12 cpi)
  45. fonts or proportionally spaced fonts contact GARY ELFRING. See also

  52.                      A memory resident soft font manager
  53.  
  54. TSR Download is a memory resident, (Terminate-and-Stay-Resident),
  55. soft font manager for the IBM PC. It locates your soft fonts
  56. automatically, and translates them into English! The program will
  57. download and/or select any HP compatible soft font. TSR Download
  58. remembers what fonts are in your printer and how much memory they
  59. take. The TSR Download program SHOULD be configured, (customized),
  60. before it is used. If you want to use the program in its memory
  61. resident mode you MUST load the program into memory before using
  62. it. The program can be called up from within any application by
  63. hitting a Hot-Key.     TSR Download has a simple to use "point and
  64. shoot" interface and always has a short help screen available. The
  65. program can be removed from memory with a special key combination,
  66. provided it is the last memory resident program loaded. (TSR
  67. Download can also run from the command line.)

  69. All commands in TSR Download are mnemonic. Thus, the <D> key stands
  70. for Download, the <M> key for Memory, the <P> key for Printer
  71. Control, etc. Basic commands include:

  87. This shareware package contains two programs: DL.EXE, and
  88. DLCFG.EXE.  Additional utilities, FONTCAT.EXE and TYPEFACE.EXE are
  89. available to registered users.  The DL.EXE and DLCFG.EXE programs
  90. are part of the TSR Download system.

  92.                            REQUIREMENTS
  93. TSR Download requires an IBM PC, XT, AT or compatible computer with
  94. PC-DOS or MS-DOS operating systems 2.1 through 4.1. TSR Download
  95. occupies 38K of RAM when loaded into memory. An HP LaserJet+,
  96. Series II, DeskJet, or compatible printer is required, along with
  97. a parallel or serial printer port. Printer ports LPT1:, LPT2:,
  98. LPT3:, COM1:, and COM2: are supported.
