*** BASIC-KB ***
The assembly language program "BASIC_KB.EXE" is designed
to supplement the BIOS INT 09 keyboard handling routine, and
this program is adjusted to work particularly with programs
running in BASIC or BASICA. One of the constant irritants I
found using the PC's keyboard were the ambiguous states of the
CAPS LOCK and NUM LOCK keys. The new alternate keyboards for
the PC provided relief in the form of little LEDs on the keys.
Naturally my big hands cover up the CAPS LOCK key all the time,
and any typist will tell you that nothing slows one down like
looking at the keys!
What I wanted was some kind of on-screen indication of the
key states. That is what BASIC_KB.EXE provides. When the Caps
are ON, two blinking, highlighted up-arrows appear on the BASIC
function key line of the MONOCHROME display next to the
character string for function key #8. If the NUM LOCK status
sets the numeric keypad to Numbers function, two blinking,
highlighted "##" symbols appear next to function key #10's
character string. This program does not work with the color/graphics
adapter.
*** DATAFIX - Utility program for sequential files ***
1. For line line numbered data files this program strips off line numbers
{and or leading <',> characters} from the data line and saves the remaining
full data line in a new file. The line numbered file must have been saved in
ASCII (A'option)
2. For convential data files (without line numbers) this program will add a
leading line number and <',> {remark format}. The new line numbered file may
be loaded and edited in BASIC
Type and edit data files with the full Screen Basic Editor!
*** DISKPGM1.BAS ***
This program produces an alphabetized listing of the files on a disk, along
with the file size and modem transmission time at 300 BAUD (for the ASCII
files on the disk).
This program allows the user to create any number of text files which are 74
characters wide, up to 60 lines long and are user named. These files can be
edited and output to the printer. Thus this program serves as a rudimentary
word processor.
User named auxiliary files can also be created. These auxiliary files are
divided into 18 blocks of 6 lines. A selected block can be inserted between
lines 6 and 7 of a text file during output. Thus this program can also serve
as a rudimentary mail merger. All files are created as sequential files, so
that cassette users can be supported. (So: even PCjr users, and the hobbyists
IBM originally thought that would use the PC.... Z.)
