  1. Installation instructions for Disk Manager OS/2 Filter Driver.

  4. IMPORTANT!
  5. The following instructions only apply to installing OS/2 in Easy Mode (Dual
  6. Boot).
  7. The Filter Driver does not support OS/2 installation in Advanced Mode (Boot
  8. Manager)! 
  9.  
  10. Devices installed with Disk Manager v6.03 are DOS and Windows ready.
  11. However, a few additional steps are required to prepare the new drive
  12. for use by OS/2.  The steps to take will depend on one of two installation
  13. scenarios outlined below:

  15.  1. Installing OS/2 on an existing DOS/Windows system, Easy Mode (Dual Boot).
  16.        =====================================================
  17.        -Boot your system from the hard disk and verify that it
  18.         is fully operational in the DOS/Windows environment.
  19.        -Make copies of your original OS/2 installation
  20.         diskettes and store them in a safe place.  Use the
  21.         copies for the remaining installation.
  22.        -Insert the diskette containing the Disk Manager OS/2 Filter 
  23.         Driver files in the A: drive
  24.        -Switch to the A: drive and type:
  25.                           DMOS2
  26.        -Once that is completed, remove the diskette from
  27.         the drive and reboot the system from the hard drive.  
  28.         During the boot sequence DM will ask you to:
  29.             'Press spacebar to boot from diskette...'.

  31.         At this point you should press the space bar and
  32.         insert the OS/2 diskette labeled:
  33.             'Installation Diskette'.

  35.         Once inserted, press the spacebar again.  The
  36.         remaining OS/2 installation will continue normally.

  39.   2. Adding a Drive to an Existing OS/2 System, Advanced Mode (Boot Manager)
  40.        ================================================
  41.        -Attach the new drive(s) to the system
  42.        -Boot the system to DOS
  43.        -Run Disk Manager to install the new device(s).
  44.        -Remove all diskettes from computer
  45.        -Reboot the system to DOS
  46.           A. If a DOS partition does not exist on the
  47.              hard drive do the following:
  48.                 *Reboot the system from the hard disk.
  49.                 *During the boot sequence DM will ask you to:
  50.                    'Press spacebar to boot from diskette...'.
  51.                 *At this point you should press the space bar and
  52.                  insert the DOS boot diskette.
  53.                 *Once inserted, press the spacebar again.
  54.        -Insert the diskette containing the Disk Manager OS/2 Filter 
  55.         Driver files in the A: drive
  56.        -Switch to the A: drive and type:
  57.                           DMOS2 /i
  58.        -Once that is completed, reboot the system to OS/2 and you
  59.         should have full access to the second hard disk.
