Installation instructions for Disk Manager OS/2 Filter Driver.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT!
The following instructions only apply to installing OS/2 in Easy Mode (Dual
Boot).
The Filter Driver does not support OS/2 installation in Advanced Mode (Boot
Manager)!
Devices installed with Disk Manager v6.03 are DOS and Windows ready.
However, a few additional steps are required to prepare the new drive
for use by OS/2. The steps to take will depend on one of two installation
scenarios outlined below:
1. Installing OS/2 on an existing DOS/Windows system, Easy Mode (Dual Boot).
=====================================================
-Boot your system from the hard disk and verify that it
is fully operational in the DOS/Windows environment.
-Make copies of your original OS/2 installation
diskettes and store them in a safe place. Use the
copies for the remaining installation.
-Insert the diskette containing the Disk Manager OS/2 Filter
Driver files in the A: drive
-Switch to the A: drive and type:
DMOS2
-Once that is completed, remove the diskette from
the drive and reboot the system from the hard drive.
During the boot sequence DM will ask you to:
'Press spacebar to boot from diskette...'.
At this point you should press the space bar and
insert the OS/2 diskette labeled:
'Installation Diskette'.
Once inserted, press the spacebar again. The
remaining OS/2 installation will continue normally.
2. Adding a Drive to an Existing OS/2 System, Advanced Mode (Boot Manager)
================================================
-Attach the new drive(s) to the system
-Boot the system to DOS
-Run Disk Manager to install the new device(s).
-Remove all diskettes from computer
-Reboot the system to DOS
A. If a DOS partition does not exist on the
hard drive do the following:
*Reboot the system from the hard disk.
*During the boot sequence DM will ask you to:
'Press spacebar to boot from diskette...'.
*At this point you should press the space bar and
insert the DOS boot diskette.
*Once inserted, press the spacebar again.
-Insert the diskette containing the Disk Manager OS/2 Filter
Driver files in the A: drive
-Switch to the A: drive and type:
DMOS2 /i
-Once that is completed, reboot the system to OS/2 and you
should have full access to the second hard disk.
