  141.      the first address specified in BINKLEY.CFG will be used.
  142.   * Fixed a bad bug in the PNT directory scan. Thanks to Oliver who
  143.     discovered it while testing E5; after a phone call we've found this
  144.     nasty thing: create a "0000XYZ.PNT" directory and see what happens...

  157.   * BT 2.56 EMSI probs now seem to be fixed. Had to implement a little
  158.     pause when NoMNPFilter is active.
  159.   * PointNet Support changes:
  160.     This E3 now supports other 4D points. If you enable Pointnet, all your
  161.     own 4d point addresses are autmagically converted to 3d pvtnet adresses.
  162.     Point adresses from other points are treated as normal 4d adresses (.PNT
  163.     directories). If E5 sees any "real" 4D mail for your own points, it
  164.     will shout (in debug mode). :-))
  165.     Your pvtnet points have to deactivate the PrivateNet keyword in
  166.     BINKLEY.CFG if they're this E3.

  278.   * Gegen aussen sieht man jetzt nicht mehr, dass man eine "Alpha"-
  279.     Version laufen hat. Ich habe dieses dauernde Fragen nach neuen
  280.     Versionen und andere Probleme endgueltig satt.

  282. Folgender Text ist fuer MAXCOMM.DLL Benutzer eventuell interessant
  283. (Auszug aus COMM.H von MAXCOMM.DLL):
  284.  
  285.   When using COM0x.SYS,  the default buffer size is the same as the
  286.   buffer size used by COM0x.SYS.  For Tx, this is the optimum size
  287.   to keep COM0x.SYS busy.  A buffer larger than this will not gain
  288.   any extra performance.  Therefore, the common urge to make the
  289.   transmit buffer large will not have the desired effect.  If there
  290.   was some way to make the REAL transmit buffer (the one in
  291.   COM0x.SYS) larger,  performance gains WOULD be seen,  but there is
  292.   no way to do this unless you have the source code for COM0x.SYS.
  293.   If you DO have the source (in the DDK), and you increase the
  294.   buffer sizes, use 0 for the XxBufSize and ComOpen will use your
  295.   larger buffers (ComOpen/Register uses the standard IOCTL call to
  296.   query the buffer sizes).
  297.  
  298.   RxBufSize, on the otherhand, does not affect performance of any
  299.   functions in the Com() module.  To avoid overflows however,  you
  300.   should set this to at least the size of the COM0x.SYS Rx buffer,
  301.   or use 0 so the default size if selected.  When the Rx buffer gets
  302.   full,  the speaker will sound (DosBeep(200, 10)).  There are two
  303.   solutions to this problem:  Make the Rx buffer larger (preferred),
  304.   or raise the priority of the thread calling ComRead()/ComGetc().
  305.  
  306.   All threads created by comm.dll run at the default priority. Since
  307.   com0?.sys is interrupt driven,  Reading/Writing to it at a high
  308.   priorty does not improve anything.  If the Rx thread is starved
  309.   for such a long time that com0?.sys buffer gets full,  it means
  310.   some other process on your computer is badly behaved (IT is
  311.   problably running at Time Critical class when it shouldn't be).
  312.   There are four ways to solve this (in order of preference):
  313.  
  314.   1) Insert DosSleep(1L) in the polling loops that are guilty (this
  315.   assumes you have source code), and/or have it run at NORMAL
  316.   priority class.
  317.  
  318.   2) decrease MAXWAIT in config.sys.
  319.  
  320.   3) Prior to calling ComOpen/ComHRegister, raise the priorty of the
  321.   current thread (or of the whole process).  The Rx/Tx threads will
  322.   inherhit this priority.
  323.  
  324.   4) set PRIORITY=ABSOLUTE in config.sys.
  325.  
  326.  
  327.   FYI:  OS/2 1.2 uses a default size of 1024 bytes for Rx, and 128
  328.         bytes for Tx.

  332. Neu in Beta D6:
  333.  
  334.   * Externes BINKLEY.HLP. Es wird im aktuellen Pfad oder dort gelesen,
  335.     wo die Environment-Variable BINKLEY hinzeig. Das selbe gilt
  336.     uebrigens auf fuer BINKLEY.LNG! -> ein heisser Tip fuer
  337.     <<Multiliner>>(tm). :-)
  338.  
  339.     Das File ist aehnlich wie ENGLISH.TXT aufgebaut: Als erstes kommt
  340.     immer ein Zeiche, welches zeigt, zu welchem der drei Hilfeschirme
  341.     die folgende Zeile gehoert:
  342.        U  = Unattended Mode Help
  343.        Z  = Zoom Mode Help
  344.        T  = Terminal Mode Help
  345.     Die erste Zeile von "U" und "Z" wird als Titel des Popup-Fensters
  346.     benutzt. Als referenz koennt ihr ja mal das BINKLEY.HLP
  347.     anschauen. :-)
  348.     Wenn mehr als ein Popup-Fenster voll Text angezeigt werden soll,
  349.     so healt BT jedesmal, wenn das Fenster voll ist. Mit ESC kann man
  350.     abbrechen. mit jeder anderen Taste kommt man auf die naechste
  351.     Seite.
  352.  
  353.     Somit ist die Hilfe sehr flexibel geworden, man kann fuer seine
  354.     Points sogar Hilfefiles direkt in BT "eingebaut" anzeigen
  355.     lassen...  ;-))
  356.

  358. Neu in Beta D5:
  359.  
  360.   * Domain-Matching bei allen Nodenummern. Man kann im BINKLEY.CFG beim
  361.     Domain-Token nun zwei neue Paramter angeben:
  362.  
  363.     Domain  domain-name outbound-name [nodelist-name [start-zone end-zone]]
  364.  
  365.     Ein Eintrag koennte so aussehen:
  366.     Domain fidonet fidonet nodex 1 6
  367.     Domain signet  signet  sigex 24 29

  370.     Leider hat z.B. Signet auch noch Zone 34, man kann diese entweder
  371.     "vernachlaessigen" oder 29 durch 32 ersetzen und ev. die dazwischen
  372.     liegenden Zonen vor dem Signet eintragen (wenn man solche
  373.     Nodelisten hat). Das Matching wird sequentiell ueberprueft. Erste
  374.     Domain ist immer die Domain der Haupt-Adresse!

  376.     Nicht aufgefuehrte Domains werden weggelassen: Support dieser
  377.     Domains waere sinnlos.
  378.     Es werden nur Domains bei Adressen angefuegt, welche noch KEINE
  379.     Domain haben!
  380.  
  381.     Apropos Domains:
  382.     Nur das Outbound Domain der ersten Adresse hat _KEINE_ Zonen-Extension!
  383.     Wenn ich z.B. wie oben eine Virnet-Aka habe, so heisst deren Outbound
  384.     _nicht_ X:\VIRNET sondern X:\VIRNET.009.
  385.     Das Domain-Outbound fuer die erste Adresse wird durch das "HOLD" Token
  386.     im BINKLEY.CFG bestimmt...
  387.  
  388.   * ENGLISH.TXT wurde um die in BT 2.56 neu eingetragenden Product-Codes
  389.     erweitert (many thanks, Vince! ;-)).
