  7.      To Install SIO, change to the disk and directory containing the
  8.      (unziped) SIO distribution files and type INSTALL, followed by return.
  9.  
  10.      This release of SIO (V1.45) contains corrections, additions and
  11.      tweaking to the basic code.  See HISTORY.TXT in the distribution zip
  12.      for details.  The on line SIO documentation files (.INF) are not
  13.      included in this release of SIO, but will be added again as time
  14.      permits.

  16.      Windows better than Windows!  Version 1.45 contains tweaking in the
  17.      WFW support, if you had trouble before, try it again.  If you are
  18.      using COMM.DRV from Windows for Workgroups 3.11, SIO will now support
  19.      the communications directly.  That is, Windows programs will be
  20.      directly supported by SIO proper, and the virtualization that existed
  21.      in earlier versions of SIO is bypassed.  In this environment, Windows
  22.      communications programs should work as well as native OS/2
  23.      communications programs.  Thanks to Rob Rose of IBM for some critical
  24.      information about the Windows communications interface.

  26.      The SIO support BBS is now available via Internet using VMODEM or
  27.      Telnet.  The Internet address is 199.248.240.2 or vmbbs.gwinn.com.

  29.      VMODEM version 1.10 is included in this release of SIO.  VMODEM.EXE is
  30.      a virtual modem implementation that allows serial communications
  31.      programs to work over the Internet.  MULTIPLE INTERNET/VMODEM PORTS
  32.      CAN BE DEFINED IN THE SIO COMMAND LINE.  VMODEM acts as both a Telnet
  33.      server or client, depending on the direction of the connection. 
  34.      VMODEM allows virtually any data communications program, including
  35.      your favorite BBS software, to use an Internet connection instead of a
  36.      telephone line.  Several existing BBSes and now accessible via
  37.      Internet.  Most took only about 5 to 10 minutes to setup under VMODEM. 
  38.      I wonder if Internet is ready for the explosion that is about to come.

  40.      VMODEM.EXE was developed and tested under IBM's TCP/IP Version 2.0
  41.      with the August 1994 CSD applied, and has been tested with the
  42.      Internet Access Kit (IAK) that is included in the bonus pack of OS/2
  43.      V3.  However, your are on your own with respect to any setup of
  44.      TCP/IP.
