  16. ***********************  LAST MINUTE ADDITIONS  **********************
  17. v2.07 introduced a changing title bar, which shows the title of the button
  18. that the mouse is currently over.  This currently works only for buttons
  19. that aren't disabled - i.e. grey buttons don't have this property.
  20.  
  21. V2.01 introduced a new feature, the FILTER WIZARD, to facilitate the creation
  22. and understanding of FILTERS, which are needed to filter out unwanted
  23. clipboard data.  The Filter Wizard will activate itself when it 
  24. senses that a filter is needed, to deal with data coming from a 
  25. particular application.  It will list the formats currently available
  26. on the clipboard, explain a little about them, and let you select
  27. the ones you want.  Once the filter is created, the Wizard will no
  28. longer be invoked, in response to data coming from the application 
  29. that you just copied data from, but may be invoked by data coming 
  30. from other applications.  i.e. the Wizard won't pester you for ever.

  32. Several bugs were fixed, since the 2.0 release:

  37. NOTE TO AUTO-GLUE and PowerPaste USERS:
  38.  
  39. If your application reports an error during an Auto-Glue or
  40. PowerPaste, then it is
  41. likely that your application and ClipMate are both going after the
  42. clipboard at the same time.  To overcome this, you need to create a
  43. filter for that application, and then use the ADVANCED OPTIONS dialog
  44. (accessed from the FILTER dialog) to initiate a small delay (100 ms)
  45. when copying the data.  This should ensure that your app is allowed to
  46. complete its clipboard operations, before ClipMate tries to update
  47. the clipboard.  This should not be necessary with applications that
  48. use the clipboard "by the book", but with some applications, including
  49. Word for Windows, you need to do this.

  53. To install ClipMate, just run the accompanying
  54. SETUP program from the Program Manager.
  55. (ex: FILE|RUN A: SETUP)
  56.  
  57. If you already have the files on your hard drive, you can still use
  58. the SETUP program.  It is strongly recommended that ClipMate be
  59. placed in its own directory.
  60.  
  61. When the Setup program runs, it will create a ClipMate group,
  62. with the ClipMate icon, and icons for documentation.  If you 
  63. decide to move the ClipMate icon to another group, such as the
  64. STARTUP group, you can delete the ClipMate group.

  84. It is important that ClipMate be placed in its own
  85. directory.  When first run, ClipMate will create a
  86. \data directory.
  87.  
  88. You are encouraged to place ClipMate in your Startup Group,
  89. and to assign a hot-key to it.  The hot-key must be done
  90. through the Program Manager, but the group can be changed
  91. during installation.

  93. To assign a hot key (after installation), just click once 
  94. on the icon, and select File|Properties from the Program 
  95. Manager's File Menu.  In the Hotkey field, press a 
  96. key-combination, such as Ctrl+Alt+C.

  98. ClipMate 2.0 has many new features, such as support for 
  99. virtually all data types, such as Graphics, and OLE 
  100. objects.  Be sure to try the new PowerPaste feature!

  152. Installation:
  153. -------------
  154. Just run SETUP.EXE.  ClipMate will be installed,
  155. and the icon will be put in the program manager,
  156. in a new group called CLIPMATE.  It is suggested
  157. that you move this icon to your STARUP group.

  159. Manual Installation:
  160. -------------------
  161. To manually install ClipMate, just copy all of the
  162. Distribution Files to the directory of your
  163. choice.  It doesn't need to be in the path, and
  164. there are no funny environment variables to set.
  165. Create a directory, such as \clipmate, and put the
  166. files there.
  167.  
  168. Create an icon in the program manager with a
  169. Command Line that points to ClipMate.
  170.  
  171. For example:
  172. C:\clipmate\clipmate.exe
  173.  
  174. Effect on Your System:
  175. ----------------------
  176. The first time that you run ClipMate, it will
  177. create \windows\clipmate.ini.  WIN.INI is NOT 
  178. altered in any way, nor are any of your other
  179. system files.

  183. ClipMate will create and save the clipboard data
  184. into DEFAULT.CLM, or another .CLM file that you
  185. specify.

  188. De-Installation Notes:
  189. ----------------------
  190. These instructions are included in the event that you determine that
  191. ClipMate does not meet your needs, and therefore should be removed
  192. from your system. 
  193.  
  194. Before deleting ClipMate, you should review the contents of 
  195. the OVERVIEW screen in the on-line help.  If you have put ClipMate through
  196. a proper evaluation, then everything on that screen should be familiar to
  197. you.  If this is not the case, then you may want to spend some more time 
  198. evaluating ClipMate.

  200. In the event that you wish to remove ClipMate from your system, 
  201. erase the following files:

  224. System Requirements:
  225. --------------------
  226. Windows 3.1.
  227. VGA or better display.  Monchrome vga is ok.
  228. Mouse.

  240. Norton Desktop for Windows users should upgrade to Norton Desktop 
  241. version 2.0.  
  242. Version 2.0 will work, if you make this change:
  243.   To make ClipMate (and most other programs compiled with a Borland
  244.   compiler) compatible with NDW v 2.0: make a change to the NDW.INI
  245.   file, which is found in the Windows directory.
  246.   In the [NHookSettings] section of NDW.INI, set Int21hHook=0.
  247.   Like this:

  254.   Added titlebar hints - titlebar tells what each button is for, as
  255.     mouse travels over buttons.

  257. v2.06 (08/19/93)
  258.   GPF - Word Search GPF, if it encountered a blank title.
  259.   Invalid Copy Warning - ClipMate now checks for data with zero
  260.     length.  It will inform you with a message box, as it occurs.
  261.     You should probably filter these formats out, unless this only
  262.     occurs during certain events, such as when opening the application.
  263.     Micrografix Draw does this sometimes, when opening files.
  264.     MS Access sometimes does this too, when copying Queries.  The Query
  265.     will be ok, but it will copy TEXT, with zero length.
  266.   Mag Window had a problem with automatically selecting a format
  267.     to display, if it didn't know how to display any of the 
  268.     available formats.  Now it will at least display the title
  269.     and stats of the item.

  272.   Added HINTS.TXT
  273.   GPF - Menu item for PRINT wasn't greyed-out, when no item selected.
  274.   GPF - when shutdown with no items left - fixed.
  275.   GPF - when glue aborted, try to copy to safe list - fixed.
  276.   These GPF's were tracked down with the assistance of user
  277.   Frans Lichtenauer - Thanks Frans!

  279. v2.03 (08/06/93)
  280.   Fixed conflict with AutoGlue - if you are copying data without
  281.     text in it, or if you were filtering out the TEXT component,
  282.     then ClipMate generates an error.  Prior to this release, the
  283.     error dialog could effectively freeze your system.  
  284.  
  285. v2.02 (08/04/93)
  286.   Fixed bug in "load on demand" logic, which prevented large
  287.     text items from re-loading, once the file was saved.  They would
  288.     fail to display in the Magnification and Thumbnail Windows.
  289.   Fixed bug with serial number.  They were being re-used, if Windows
  290.     happened to crash before ClipMate was properly shut down.  
  291.     Now, the serialization is synchronized with file saves.  
  292.     The problem existed in version 2.0, 2.1, and could lead to 
  293.     corrupt data files.  If you think you are experiencing problems
  294.     due to this, contact Thornton Software Solutions, and we'll 
  295.     help you work around the problem.  
  296.   Both of these bugs are corrected in this release.

  298. v2.01 (07/30/93)
  299.   Filter Wizard added.  Too late to include in manual.
  300.   Fixed bug in re-drawing Thumbnail Window.
  301.   Fixed bug that occurred when thumbnail or magnification windows
  302.     were open, and ClipMate was minimized.  GPF, R/T 204.
