Before proceeding, it is important that you have completed the
following steps:
Step 1: Installed the scanner interface card in your computer.
Step 2: Connected the scanner to the interface card.
Step 3: Run the Install program of Twain Data Source.
by typing "win A:\install" or "win B:\install".
If you have not yet done any of the 3 steps, please refer to the
scanner Installation Guide for more details.
Here are some tips on how to better use your scanner and avoid problems.
1. When using the SCSI interface card with other peripherals, be
aware of the address conflicts with other interface cards. An easy
way to find out what memory ranges are available in your computer
is to run Microsoft Diagnostic (eg. WIN MSD <cr> ). If you have cards
like sound/audio,fax/modem cards, please make sure that they are not using the same
address as the SCSI interface card. (Your User's Guide has more
detail information for your reference.)
2. We recommend your using HIMEM.SYS or QEMM386.SYS as your memory management program.
Some system might encounter problem in using EMM386.EXE under MS DOS, or
MS Windows 3.x.
3. Under MS Windows, if you have install Adaptec ASPI manager in your system,
You can connect scanner to the Adaptec AHA-154X/152X series AT to Host
Adapter.
3. The Hot-Key function is not yet supported in the Twain Data Source
Version 1.33.
4. When using Chinese OCR , please update your CONFIG.SYS
by adding the scanner device line as below:
files=40
buffer=40
DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\A4TWAIN\MTOM.SYS
Any word-processing software, or the EDIT.COM under DOS 5.0 can edit
your CONFIG.SYS file.
After saving this update of your CONFIG.SYS, please reboot your system
to load the scanner driver and select the Microtek scanner before
scanning.
