  7. W H A T  I S  LearnCHEM?
  8.  
  9. LearnCHEM 2.0 is a learning aid designed for kids and students at 
  10. elementary and high schools and undergraduates of the subjects which are
  11. more or less related to chemistry - i. e. medicine, chemistry,
  12. and physics. This program should help them learn chemistry more easily.

  14. LearnCHEM consists of two parts:
  15. 1. the PERIODIC TABLE of elements displayed in four different colors with 
  16.    brief descriptions. You can "walk" the table using the cursor movement keys.
  17. 2. FORMULAE OF ORGANIC SUBSTANCES - THIS IS SOMETHING COMPLETELY NEW, 
  18.    SOMETHING THAT HASN'T BEEN HERE BEFORE. Nowhere else can you find 
  19.    this option. From the list you can choose whichever organic substance 
  20.    you like and which is present in the database.  The program allows for 
  21.    displaying the structural formulae of all the common organic substances -
  22.    alkanes, alkenes, alkines, alcohols, carboxylic acids, alkaloids, aldehydes, 
  23.    steroids etc.

  26. LearnCHEM is SHAREWARE. You may copy the unregistered version, use it, give 
  27. it to your friends, upload it to a BBS on condition you distribute the whole
  28. and unmodified original package.

  30. LearnCHEM is inexpensive shareware. If you like it and continue to use it 
  31. after a trial period of 30 days, you should (actually, you have to) pay 
  32. a small registration fee. As you can see, you can test this program freely
  33. before buying it. If you do not want to register, you have to quit using it 
  34. and delete it.
  35. When should you register? Now!
  36. To get to know the advantages of being a registered user, please read the 
  37. lines below.

  40. IN WHAT WAY WILL THE REGISTRATION BE OF ADVANTAGE TO YOU?

  42. If you register and pay a small fee, you will receive the registered version 
  43. - with the full database of the structural formulae of organic substances,
  44. - which does not force you to wait 10 seconds and read the notice about the
  45.   registration after running the program,
  46. - and you will be given two more upgrades (You will be informed by mail and 
  47.   asked to send the old registered version diskette) for free.

  49. Remember, by registering you contribute to making the program better
  50. and better. 
  51. Besides, if I encounter a great number of registered users from certain 
  52. countries, I can promise them I will make their mother-tongue language versions
  53. and send them for free. Please let me know if you like this idea.

  56. HOW TO REGISTER?

  58. Print REGISTRA.FRM, fill in the registration card, tick the amount of money,
  59. put it into the envelope, enclose the appropriate sum or a cheque and send it 
  60. to the address below:

  68. NOW FOR THE REGISTRATION FEES

  70. First, how can you pay the registration fee? You can either send cash or pay by
  71. International Money Order, US Postal Money Order or travellers cheques.
  72. Please do not send any other cheques (it involves high costs to me and,
  73. in fact, to you too because the banks charge enormous fees).

  75. Please probably pay by cheque (you should avoid sending coins which may draw
  76. the unwanted attention of some people during the delivery).
  77.  
  78. It is impossible to pay by COD (cash on delivery) or by credit card.
  79. 1. If you pay cash, please put it in an envelope and make sure no one can see
  80.    what is inside. Please send it by "registered mail" or "recorded 
  81.    delivery". If you pay cash, every convertible currency mentioned in the
  82.    REGISTRA.FRM will be accepted.
  83. 2. If you pay by IMO, US Postal Money Order or travel cheques, put them into
  84.    the envelope. Please add US $3 to cover exchange expenses. These cheques 
  85.    and money orders have to be payable only in US $, British pounds or 
  86.    German DM.
