  6. MAUVE WILL NOT START unless:

  8. 1. Your monitor is set at thousands of colors. To set the monitor go to Control Panel/Monitor.
  9. 2. Version 2.5 or later of QuickTime is installed. To install QuickTime, launch the installer in the QuickTime folder on the CD-ROM. If asked, delete the previous version and restart your computer.

  32. SYSTEM PERFORMANCE

Mauve makes extensive use of two key features of multimedia technology: mouse clicks and videos. Mauve relies on Director 6 from Macromedia and QuickTime from Apple Computer to implement these technologies. The effectiveness of these technologies depends in large part on the power of the system being used and on the user╒s ability to refrain from clicking the mouse needlessly.

  37. As a general rule of thumb, the performance of Mauve improves on faster and more powerful systems. Playing Mauve on a system with the minimum requirements can result in:
  38. - slow loading times,
  39. - various screen artefacts,
  40. - missing or choppy sound, and
  41. - unopened files.
  42. Patience is a virtue if you have a slow machine. Excessive clicking can overload the system with conflicting commands which it doesn╒t have time to process. This is usually what has happened when the system hangs while you are using Mauve.

  44. Please quit other applications before running Mauve.

  46. For best performance, you should also turn off Virtual Memory, AppleTalk and as many unnecessary extensions as possible.
