  47. Thank you for choosing BookSaver. This screensaver will go through your
  48. bookmarks and display them while you aren't working. All you need to do
  49.  to use
  50. it is go through a few simple set up steps.
  51.  
  52.  
  53. INSTALLING:
  54. _____________________________________
  55.  
  56. 1. Unzip all of the files from the booksave.zip file into a new
  57.  temporary
  58. directory. Do this by using a zip utility program like EZ-Unzipper
  59.  available at
  60. http://www.gma-soft-tech.pair.com/.
  61.  
  62. 2. Double click on the "setup.exe" icon (it should get unzipped into the
  63. temporary folder created in step 1). This will begin the setup
  64.  application that
  65. will install the BookSaver application. A setup screen will ask where
  66.  you would
  67. like to place the application files. Select a folder and click on the
  68.  install
  69. button. All necessary files will be placed on your computers hard disk.
  70.  
  71. 3. When the setup application is completed you will be asked to restart
  72.  your
  73. computer. For best results you should restart it - but it will probably
  74.  work
  75. either way.
  76.  
  77. 4. Right click your mouse on the desktop. This will show a context menu
  78.  with one
  79. of the choices "properties" - select "properties". This will display the
  80. "display properties" window. Select the "Screen Saver" tab on the top of
  81.  the
  82. window. Select "BookSaver" in the pull-down menu on the left half way
  83.  down.
  84. Enter a time in the "Wait" box. Click on the "Settings" button to
  85.  configure the
  86. screensaver.
  87.  
  88. You are now ready to configure your screensaver.
  89.  
  90. CONFIGURING:
  91. _____________________________________
  92. 1. Adding Bookmarks. This is the one thing that you must do for the
  93.  screensaver
  94. to work. The table on the left shows what bookmarks you have added.
  95.  Click on the
  96. "Import Bookmarks" button to import your bookmark file. An open file
  97.  dialog box
  98. will be displayed. Select your bookmark file and click the Open button.
  99.  (The
  100. bookmark file for Netscape is named bookmark.htm and is typically in the
  101. c:\program files\Netscape\Navigator directory) Your bookmarks will be
  102.  added to
  103. the table on the left. The "Refresh Bookmarks" button will delete all
  104.  bookmarks
  105. and import new ones.
  106.  
  107. 2. Deleting: You can click the "Delete Selected Site" to delete just one
  108.  site,
  109. or "Delete All" to delete all of them.
  110.  
  111. 3. You can type an URL into the textbox and click the "Add this Site"
  112.  button to
  113. add any site to your list.
  114.  
  115. 4. The Automatic Slowdown feature slows the refresh rate to 30 minutes
  116.  after the
  117. screensaver has been on for an hour. The default setting is enabled, and
  118.  that is
  119. recommended to conserve network resources. Without this feature enabled,
  120.  and the
  121. refresh rate set at 15 seconds you would download 3840 pages in a 16
  122.  hour night!

  124. 5. The Page Refresh Rate is how long each bookmark will be displayed. We
  125. recommend at least 45 seconds for a modem connection.
  126.  
  127. 6. The size of the browser window can be adjusted in the Browser Size
  128.  pull-down
  129. menu.
  130.  
  131. 7. A color for the background can be selected by clicking on the
  132.  Background
  133. Color button.
  134.  
  135. 8. For sites with password authentication enter your User ID and
  136.  Password next
  137. to the URL in the table on the left.

  139.  
  140. USING THE SCREENSAVER:

  142. The screensaver will appear after several minutes (depending what your
  143.  settings
  144. are) of inactivity on your computer. You may exit the screensaver at
  145.  anytime by
  146. pressing the mouse, pressing any key except "b" or "c" or by pressing
  147.  the "Quit"
  148. button. The "b" key or the "browse" button stops the screensaver, and
  149.  allows you
  150. to browse from the current bookmark. When you are done browsing, you can
  151.  then
  152. continue the screensaver where it left off by pressing the "continue"
  153.  button, or
  154. press "quit" to exit. The "c" key or "configure" button allows you to
  155.  pause the
  156. screensaver and configure it.

  159. LIMITATIONS AND CONFLICTS:

  161. 1. Browser does not handle frames, Java, or ActiveX. This will be
  162.  included in
  163. future upgrades.
  164.  
  165. 2. There can be conflicts with some sites that give "cookies." We are
  166.  trying to
  167. debug this component and expect major progress by the next release. A
  168.  work-
  169. around to the problem is to remove sites known to have cookies. Look to
  170.  our web
  171. page for progress on this.
