Transcription: Leonardo resumed his search for the fundamental causes underlying the natural world. More than ever he believed that a universal science was possible, that branches of the tree of knowledge must ultimately connect. When he dissected human bodies, his looping lateral mind continually found parallels. The veins of the arm recall a tangled river course. The vascular system is compared to a germinating plant. The analogy between the human body and the body of the earth lies at the center of his most famous work, the Mona Lisa.
