  7. Welcome to Softkey Landscape Architect!  This is a breakthrough product which
  8. uses advanced interactive 3-D technology to make the experience of landscape
  9. design fast, easy, and rewarding.  We hope you enjoy navigating through the
  10. landscapes of your imagination, and be sure to check out the sample landscapes
  11. for examples of what this product is capable of.

  28. As with any new piece of technology, some minor last-minute problems surfaced
  29. as the product was being tested for release.  Although every effort has been
  30. made to test on a wide variety of machines, you may experience one of the
  31. problems listed below.  We recommend that you save your work often; this is
  32. always a good practice anyway.

  34. PROBLEM:    on some machines with TrueColor (24-bit) displays, only half the
  35.             tree will show up in normal rendering.
  36. WORKAROUND: either run in HiColor (16-bit) or 256-color (8-bit) mode
  37.             - or -
  38.             run in flat-shaded or wireframe mode.
  39.  
  40. PROBLEM:    attempting to save files on the CD-ROM can result in program
  41.             failure.  This can occur after opening one of the sample files and
  42.             making a change.
  43. WORKAROUND: don't attempt to save files on the CD-ROM.  Instead, use the "Save
  44.             As..." menu item to save the sample file to your hard drive.
  45.  
  46. PROBLEM:    grouping trees, flowers, or shrubs can result in program failure.
  47. WORKAROUND: don't group trees, flowers, or shrubs.  The behavior of plants is
  48.             different than that of static objects like dog houses and bird
  49.             feeders.

  51. PROBLEM:    on some machines, subjecting the program to lengthy and heavy use
  52.             can result in program failure.
  53. WORKAROUND: save and save often.  This is always a good practice anyway.
