  1. This is the common TeX for the Acorn Archimedes, and also PCAT's, SUNS,
  2. VAXEN, 3B, etc.

  4. CommonTeX is NOT supported by me any longer - I am only supporting
  5. the CTeX port via web2c.  However I will supply the sources to anyone
  6. who wants to support it themselves.

  8. Under Arthur, there are command files in the make directory to re-generate
  9. the complete system.  All the sources, such as tex.h, are in the
  10. corresponding directory - i.e:  h.tex
  11.  
  12. TeX will look for files of three types: text files, font files, and format
  13. files. Format files are the files ending in .fmt which are generated by a
  14. \dump command (see the TeXbook). Font files end in .tfm and text files end in
  15. .tex, but TeX will input files of any extension including the null extension.

  17. To use the path searching facility, set environment variables:

  19. set texformats$path $.tex.texformats.
  20. set texinputs$path  @.,$.tex.texinputs.
  21. set texfonts$path   $.tex.texfonts.

  29. The tex*$path variables are Archimedes paths - they may contain more than one
  30. directory, and multiple directories should be comma-separated and each should
  31. end in "." or ":".

  33. The tex* variables are used internally by the C version of tex only, and should
  34. not be altered from the above.

  36. The Author of this system is Pat Monardo, and the minor modifications needed
  37. to get it to run under Acorn systems have been made by Graham Toal.
