Help on the items in the OPTIONS menu.
* Card options
* Colors
* Save settings
CARD OPTIONS: Choosing CARDS in this
sub-menu will bring up a dialog box
which will allow you to specify what
suits will be used and how they will
be named. Click on the boxes with the
names of the suits and the court cards
to type in new names. These names must
be less than ten letters. Press
<Enter> after you type in the name.
The new names will appear in the
places where the suits are named, in
the Overview for example. An asterisk
in the boxes beside the suit and court
names indicates these cards will be
included in the deck. Click in these
boxes to toggle between inclusion and
exclusion.You can add one or two
jokers to the deck by clicking in the
box beside JOKERS. You can only do
this when the trumps are excluded, as
the jokers are the first two trump
cards. This is mainly for working with
a regular playing deck, which you can
make by excluding the trumps and one
of the court cards (e.g. the
Princesses) and then naming the suits
and court cards accordingly (Hearts
instead of Cups etc.). You can choose
to use reversed cards in your layout
by clicking in the box beside REVERSE
until an asterisk appears. When this
is selected cards may be reversed at
random during the shuffle. This is for
the method of determining card dignity
depending on whether it is dealt right
side up or reversed. All cards in this
program are aligned the same so
reversed cards will have a "R" on
them. You will normally not use this
if you have a spread loaded which has
the compare option set, which is
another method for determining card
dignity (See SPREAD help). When you
exit this dialog box the deck will be
freshened if you clicked inside any of
the inclusion boxes beside the suits
etc. When you open a saved layout the
deck will change to the way it was
when that file was saved no matter how
the card options are set in the box.
COLORS: Choosing this will allow you
to change the program's various
colors. A box will appear with the
items that can be changed, which are:
The color of the table top (the main
screen color); The color of menu
boxes; The color of the text in the
menus; The color of the dialog boxes;
The color of the text in the dialog
boxes; The color of the deck frame,
which shows up when all the cards are
dealt. The deck frame color is also
used for text which appears on the
cards or deck. Look at each of these
boxes to see what the current colors
are and move the cursor onto the menu
and dialog ones to see what
highlighted items will look like.
There are two ways of changing the
colors. You can move the cursor onto
the box of the item you want to change
and instead of clicking on it, you can
use the <Pgup> and <Pgdn> keys to
cycle thru the colors. The color you
see in the box is the unhighlighted
color until you right-click to finish.
You can also click on the box you want
to change and then choose the color
you want from the color table by left-
clicking. When you exit, the screen
will be redrawn with the new colors
and with any dealt cards placed back
in the deck in their original
position.
SAVE SETTINGS: Choose SAVE to save
the options set in the above two
commands. The settings of the Face-Up/
Down and Deal-Top/Right/Left toggles
in the DECK sub-menu are also saved.
All these settings are saved in the
file "Tarot.cfg". Delete this file to
return to the default program
settings.
