Mouse Support
─────────────────
The CD-ROM Access System provides support for any Microsoft
compatible mouse. It does require your mouse driver be
loaded prior to executing the software.
To select an option from the Menu Bar, place the mouse cursor
on the object and double click. All options may be selected
in this manner.
To scroll forward or backward through a view, click on the
arrows at the top or bottom of the scroll bar which is
located to the right of your screen.
Normal Key Functions
──────────────────────
The CD-ROM Access System presents text, graphics and
supporting information via "views". Each view,
including this help view; consists of continuous text.
Accordingly, your normal cursor keys work as you would
expect to let you browse and read a view's text.
The HOME key will take you to the beginning of a VIEW
and the END key will take you to the end of a VIEW. The
DOWN and UP arrows move directionally one line at a
time, and the PGUP-PGDN keys move one screen at a time.
Copy ■ Extract
────────────────
Once you have located the file description on the screen,
place the light-bar cursor on the line you wish to copy or
extract and then press the "Enter" key. This will display
the drop down the file menu.
Your options are:
■ Copy Copies files as stored on the CD-ROM.
■ Extract Extracts "ZIPed" programs to disks as
submitted by the author.
■ View Display Picture or "ZIP" file contents.
See "View" under the Help Topic.
The Copy and Extract options operate in a similar manner. If
you didn't have the current line marker positioned on a valid
line, a pop-up window will be displayed that explains the
error. Read this explanation and then press any key to
continue.
The program prompts for a destination. This normally would
be one of your floppy drives, but it can be any legal drive
or directory combination you want. If the directory does not
exist it will be created. The program then launches the copy
command or the extract using PKUNZIP. The progress will
display on the screen.
View
──────
Once you have located the description on the screen,
place the light-bar cursor on the line you wish to view
and then press the "Enter" key. This will display the
Picture or the "ZIP" file contents, depending on the type
of file selected.
The resolution of the picture files is set to a default
to display the 640 X 480 series of images, this may be
changed through the OPTION menu.
See "Using The Menu Bar" in the Help Topic for more
information.
