You must guide a vast store of water held at the top of the screen out the
bottom of the screen to be safely stored. You do this by pushing blocks
around and leaving them in the right positions so that the water will be
guided to the bottom of the screen.
Playing the game
----------------
When you start the game you can enter a password to continue from where you left off last time or simply press return to start from level 1.
At the start of each level Shug will teleport into the screen and you will betold how many units of water you need. A unit refers to a whole square of water and there are 16 units in each level. You can move Shug with the following keys:
Z - Left Q - Quit
X - Right
' - Up Space - Release the water
/ - Down
In each level you will come across different items here is a list of what youwill find:
Sieve - These are red and will slow the water down slightly.
Drip valve - This green item will slowly release water held above it.
Pass gate - Shug can walk through this yellow and black chequered area.
Blocks - These brown blocks can be pushed around.
Storage door - A green door with a red dot in it will move when you want torelease the water.
Dissolving block - Any water that lands on this brown substance will burn
it's way through it but only if it comes from above.
Ice cube - These can be pushed around like normal blocks and will de-frost and act like normal water when space is pressed.
When you press space any green blocks will vanish, ice cubes will melt and the water will start to flow. If the route the water takes does not go according to plan then pressing Q will quit. If you manage to get enough water out the bottom of the screen then you will be given a password. This password enables you to start from the next level and also lets you edit the screen.
The Editor
----------
Flood has an in-built editor that you can use to create your own sets of levels. If you load flood while holding down L then after the ARM'd & dangerous logo you will be returned to the desktop with a new window opened. This window shows what saved screens are stored already. The "Standard" fileis the set of screens that the game defaults to. There should be another file called "Blank". Whenever you are creating a new set of screens you should copy this file and unlock the copy. NEVER alter the blank file or youwon't be able to create new screens.
When in the editor you can load different sets of files and edit them. When you select to edit the screens you will then be asked for all of the passwords in order. You can then edit the screens for which you entered the password correctly.
In the editor you can use these keys:
A - Go down a level Q - Quit
S - Go up a level
Z - Move down list of objects M - Go to menu for special details
X - Move up list of objects
The currently selected object will appear under the mouse pointer and will move around as you move the mouse. If you click the left mouse button then the object will be placed on the level. If you click the middle button the object in the level that the mouse points to will be deleted. If you click the right button then the object in the level the mouse points to will become the currently selected object.
There are a few restrictions on what you can place in a level. You MUST have16 water or ice cubes squares in a level or the game won't work and when placing Shug the previous position he was in will be deleted so that you can only have one in each level.
When you go to the special menu you can change the password for the level andhow much water you need to complete it.
